O...M...G....best use of old computer mouse parts ever! I really like the overall effect as well. Very creative!

Awesome design, but 10mikes TOS is completely impractical. You would have to be launching from a location that was being over run by the enemy for it to be "effective." By the time that it climbed to altitude, it would have to bug out (pun intended) and begin its RTB and descent.
Again, outstanding design. Just throwin' you some .02

That's a pretty sweet piece of work. My favorite is the undercarriage beneath all of that protective armor. The many little pieces that come together are what really sells this zoid, for me. Its almost a shame that it has to be hidden beneath the shell. That said, I do feel that the shell could have a bit more character. It's awesome that you salvaged it from an old mouse, but the pieces are so smooth and fit so well that they look positively organic. I almost feel as if I'm looking at a real beetle, lol. Ah well, great job.

Love this little guy! I think it's a wonderful fate for all dead mouses (well, I suppose you could call 'em mice, but that just seems odd for a piece of hardware....) Love the use of bottle caps and how you used the Struxx pieces for non-joints. I'll have to re-examine how they can be incorporated. zodd - perhaps, but that also depends on stealth capability and airspeed... don't discount our little beetle, here! (Of course I'm guessing this bug is about 15 to 20 meters long, so not quite so little....)

I've been looking at mice my whole life and never noticed it was a beetle!!!! This is so brilliant.. I adore it. It reminds me of a scarab, perhaps if it was a more metallic green it'd look just like one

I'm sorry I wasn't clear on the 10 minutes part. You are right about being impractical but I meant that when it reaches the area to attack, it can only be there for 10 minutes at top to hit and run since it's really easy to take down. However, it would need time to launch and the distance travel time added together are excluded from the 10 minutes attack time. Hope that's better now and thanks for pointing that out.

You must understand that I live on a small island and Home Depot aside the other local stores is the only place that has a large variety of spray paints and that was the best option at the time. There was metallic blue but I'm saving that for another possible bug or scarab as u said. thanks btw.

Thanks all for the comments, as mentioned on the other forum, I'll get some WIP pics up soon.
@ Maethius, you mentioned they stop the Struxx line? cause right after the summer I bought a bigger box of struxx for more joints and I hope it would be enough for future customs. You introducing Struxx to us was a blessing for me, haha, you know what I mean.
thanks again all.

Yeah, for Christmas my wife (the most wonderful woman on Earth with a lot of insight into modeling!) managed to wrangle me two new Struxx kits from around the 'Net. I was sad to hear that they were canceled... best large joints in the world!

Oh man, I wish I knew about Struxx before hand, lol. In many ways, I love these build guides of yours more than the actual models themselves Rayse. This way, you can truly appreciate the dedication to detail, not to mention the craftsmanship, that went into the build. We deeply appreciate you sharing this with us.

Sometimes I think when a customizer's skill really shines brightest is the in the "pre-primer" stage. Yes, we can all look at a finished work and get all impressed with how the final product looks, but when you see the build before priming you can get a good idea of the use of parts, number different kits and sources used, and the creative process behind the custom. Love it, Rayse!
