I'm not sure if this is classified as "fan fiction" in the traditional sense, but I thought I'd share this with everyone. Again, this is source material for my fan-verse, Battle Century. For some time I've been working on the different types of evolution a zoid can take during its lifetime. We were introduced to the possibility of zoids evolving in Chaotic Century where Van's Shield Liger evolved into a Blade Liger, and Raven's Geno Saurer evolved into a Geno Breaker. We were later reintroduced to zoid evolution in Genesis, where the main zoid - the Murasame Liger - had the ability to "evolt" into its two separate forms, the Hayate and Mugen Liger. Likewise, in the Zoids Concept Art books, we are told that zoids evolved at a phenomenal pace due to human meddling. I began to think: what place does evolution hold in Battle Century. Surprisingly, I found that it holds a great deal of importance when it comes to zoids. Zoids are, after all, living creatures, and all living creatures evolve at some point in time. Anyways, enough rambling. Here is an overview of the five most common types of evolutionary pathways a zoid may take during its lifetime. Attachments:

Again, very well done.
I have to say, the concept of the evolt knocks me right out of immersion, but that's more Genesis' fault. Your presentation borders on flawless; just a few grammatical errors.

Very good stuff in there! Evolt, I would think, would be less a form of evolution (being temporary) but would instead be a form of adaptation, such as a sea sponge which is capable of temporarily arming itself with the toxins of a sea urchin. However, it could be seen as a form of "surge-step" evolution. If the adaptation is used enough it begins to guide the course of the overall evolutionary direction of the Zoid. That is, if a Zoid could choose between a temporary armored form or bladed form and consistently chose the bladed form, it would evolve along the lines of a melee fighter. If the armored form, it would evolve along the lines of the endurance fighter.
Great stuff, though! Food for thought all around.
