Do the blades come down? And do you think you'll paint the parts that aren't white (and the caps) or just leave them?

I'd like to paint the missing white bits, need to find a good way to do it. I was actually expecting them to be prepainted or separate parts, given how much Koto seems to do prepainted parts on kits where the markings are important (like mecha faces, or significant emblems...)
The blades do come down, but they're take-off-and-peg-back-in, not hinged.
...I'm really surprised the little Van wasn't painted, given the HMM anime pilots are.
