I'm needing to make a transparent cockpit glass. Can any of you recommend a clear plastic that can be plied into shape before hardening?

If such a thing existed, they'd be sold out in seconds.. that's something EVERY customizer wants. Unfortunately, the nature of pliable plastic means there's no way it'd stay transparent.

There is a putty that dries clear to repair model kit windows... but I can't recall the name.

try a plastic material supplier .. an industrial one that is .. ask for 1mm lexan (polycarbonate) same stuff they use in bullet proof windows or a 1mm acrylic .. heat in oven and mold .. pliable at about 80degrees celcius .. no idea in Fahrenheit tho sorry .. just note .. it will burn the heck outta you if your not careful .. so wear oven gloves .. ive used it to make all sorts of things as im a plastic fabricator .. or you can always use clear icecream etc containers .. they will stay clear if you heat from a distance not like a butane burner or similar .. almost forgot .. stretch the heck outta it to maintain a smooth surface too .. if not you can sand it and polish it with a plastic polish .. the supplier should have some in a tube
oh and Maethius i think the one you mean is a Tamiya product .. its one of their crystal clear glues i believe

ive formed lexan(polycarbonate sheet) up to 25mm / 1 inch thick and acrylic up to 50mm/2 inch .. lexan is a cool product but you have to be careful as it catches fire and smokes really badly .. poisonous too by the way .. and note that alot of lexan is actually got a slight purplish tinge to it as well which the thin acrylics dont have .. and acrylic doesnt burn so no smoke .. and to maethius i agree about missing a set up shop ... was a darn site easier to use all the seriously cool toys .. oops machinery like the cnc router ,saws, drill press etc
