I've always thought that my Zoids were in great condition, aside from the odd bit here and there that needed repair. I picked up a couple of job lots of Zoids for spares just recently, and I realise that many of mine are actually in pretty poor condition. Many are tarnished (most obvious on the light grey plastic of whitehead Zoids). The tarnishing - I guess - is partly age, but largely due to the fact that (a) I used to keep them on display on a windowsill, so they've been yellowed by the sun; and (b) when I was young and reckless I used to smoke like crazy so they're probably nicotine/tar stained too. Any way I can restore these to former glory? I've tried going at one of my Spiderzoids chassis with alcohol, but the colour didn't budge. I'm almost tempted to get some very fine abrasive on there (polish, maybe?) to remove a layer, but then what would I do about the decals? Any ideas welcome. I'd like to display these guys again - and I'll now put them in a proper case (plus I no longer smoke ) Cheers!

if its really only the paint .. go down to the local paint hardware shop and ask for a REALLLLY fine grade polish .. used for cutting back paint like a panel and paint shop uses.. it should bring back the shine really nicely ..
alcohol only will soften your paint like a weak solvent and therefore dull it off
as for the yellowing try your phonebook for plastic material suppliers and ask for a plastic polish creme .. that should do the job .. of course tell them what you are using it for and they should find you a tube around somewhere
to give it a final shine .. spray with a furniture polish like FUTURE .. spray it on to a lint free cloth when using it .. .. works awesome as a lite clear coat too great for putting decals on
hope that helps ..

Legendary - thanks. Yes: that helps a lot None are painted, but plastic polish creme sounds like exactly what I'm after. I'll get onto that in the morning. I'll let you know how it goes. Nice one though. Thanks again.
