Can I respectfully urge everybody to read and comment on the creative entries, specifically Maethius' entry. I've posted several stories in the past so I can imagine that some people might have come to terms with my writing style, decided it's not for them, and decided not to bother reading my entry - and that's perfectly fine! But there really is no excuse for failing to read Maethius' story, since it's the first he's posted here. Moreover, I think his writing is pretty fabulous, and I'd hate to think that might not bother continuing because of a lukewarm reception for his first contribution.
I really appreciated all the feedback I got on the stories I've posted in the past, especially my first one (with Spider-man!), and I hope that the same is extended to Maethius. On the offchance that it is not, I want to reiterate to Maethius that his story is great, and that I think it could form the first of a series of interconnected but stand-alone novellas - all of which I would very much look forward to reading!
Of course, I'd like to see people posting feedback on all the entries, not just the creative ones. The amount of work that has clearly gone into the open entries especially deserves recognition. The shiny, sleek, leggy and predatory robots need more commentary!

I don't know how to say this but it's not just people being aware of entries but it's the fact that these contests are dying in every way. I mean look at the people who comment and who submit entries, it is either those who still have the spirit for customizing\kitbash or those who are always around.
I mean come on! look at the customed entries total. just 7. this is sad.
The next time any forum is making a contest, first, in advance, they should announce it not just on the forum but on others and other websites. ( Try youtube or sites like facebook\my space) I'm sure u will get at least a %10 increase. Just suggestions, that's all.

I appreciate your comments, KAndrw... I've gotten better at building customs but I really would like to see comments on my writing. I agree with Rayse too... I wonder if having 4 custom contests one after another has had a detrimental effect on entries, along with the economy, but there should be dozens of comments for each entry. Making a comment or voting doesn't require finances, and the time required is minimal.
Please show your support for the entrants and for Colodie, who put this all together. Thanks for your time, everyone.

Well you guys and gals should know me by now, I always comment on every custom posted, at least when I'm aware of it I do. Maybe having 4 contest is kinda tough and one wouldn't be expected to join all or maybe just cause people just don't have cash and time to darth. I will not say anything about not having skills cause i know everyone has something inside and it's just a matter of time before one becomes a pro. ( LOL, I wish i had a pic of my very first custom and no it was never posted here) As for support and interest, put it this way. Many fans are leaving the zoids world while so few join, it's really dying slowly but surely. I don't know how the effect of those HMM kits will draw fans but I hope something happens soon. As said before, it's really the same people on here mostly, just like other forums even when there is more than 500 members. Now that is something to think about. You people tell me what's going on.
I know I sound like I'm mad but it's the truth, there isn't much comments or views compare to the past when u would post a custom and not for a contest and get nearly 3-5 pages of comments. ( I miss that!)
Well that's just how it is, who know's it might change in a good or bad way. Now don't let me change the topic of this thread. Look at me, I'm getting emotional already.
LOL, joke.

Reopen it and I'll submit a Creative tomorrow ^_^ I know this will sound like a lame excuse, but maybe we should try to re-open the contest. I my self was working on 2 entries at the same time (which turned out to be a very bad idea). 2 weeks before the deadline i had a rough time at work and didn't really have any time to work on my customs. however i continued working on one of them and finished two days ago. I took my pictures yesterday and ready to submit my entries if anyone don't mind. What do you say Colodie?

Heh. That would solve an issue or three...
But what I think doesn't really matter as much as the seven already entered.

I'm not sure at what level I'll be able to participate in Zoiding for some time to come, but I thought it might be cool to sponsor a contest next year. If I did, I think my first order of business would be to post an interest poll and see if I could get at least a good 20 nibbles before launching.
I think the idea of multiple categories is a double edged sword... on one hand it's a great way to say, "hey, if you're a pro at this, you should compete at your own level and let some fresh faces get a shot at the glory." I really liked that aspect of this contest! The down side might be that some folks might feel restricted in what they can make... but that's really been an point of almost every contest I've seen. Heck, a theme can be pretty important in a contest and can build interest. I think this contest was well conceived; open theme, multi-category, great prizes. The only change I would probably make in the future would be a pre-poll and have everyone jump to other forums and talk it up in advance. Other than that, I can't think of what I would do. There should have been a huge draw... I mean FIVE HMM kits on the line?! Some darthers must be asleep at the wheel!
O.O

So what do you say guys? Can I still submit my custom?

Yeah, how about it, give both Ketekmelet and I a chance and I can produce something. For limited entry you know the deal but for open, you gotta give me some time to produce something. If not, at least I tried.

Despite my earlier posts, I actually prefer it if the contest was not re-opened.
Allowing more entries now would defeat the purpose of having a deadline. And before anyone says anything, let me just mention that in the past, I've missed qualifying for several contests by a matter of minutes.
I admit that timing hasn't been perfect, but anticipation for the contest has been ongoing for several months and if you miss it, you miss it; that's just how life works sometimes. Save your creations for other contests . . . or better yet, submit them anyway, without the incentive of a prize. That's the mark of a real zoider.
Of course if democracy works against my opinion I'll be sure to take advantage of the new opportunity -_^
(disclaimer: this opinion does not include entrants who were screwed over because their entry was lost in the emails-- they submitted everything on time and totally deserve to have their work judged)

I would be delighted for any entries that got eaten by spam filters to join the contest, since the creators of those entries followed the rules of the contest but were thwarted by technology.
I'd love to see anything that was completed after the contest's end date join the competition, but I'd prefer that it did so as an exhibition entry. Finishing an entry after the other entries have been publicly shown is not really in keeping with the rules.
That said, I'm happy to accept Colodie's decision either way. I feel that as the contest organiser, it's his prerogative to change the rules as required.

I agree that any filtered entries should be allowed in, no question, and we should take the time to thoroughly review and re-vote. As for new, never submitted entries, I would love to see them, but I also understand Chuckles' view on missing a deadline. I'm buying a house, raising a toddler, working full time, authoring a game supplement, managing my property, going to weekly doctor's appointments with my wife (who is now in her third trimester! ), and I made 2 entries for the ZP contest, 1 Zoid and 1 story entry for the Pheno contest, and just submitted my entry for the Zoidfans contest. Mind you, my wife almost made me sleep out in the rain, but I made the deadline. Everybody has stuff in their lives, but if you missed getting an entry done, maybe save it for the Zoids Philippines contest, since that one hasn't been announced yet. Incidentally, I also agree with Chuckles on another point within my own life. I used to do customs just to do them, contest or not. Since my time is about to pretty much vanish and I can't see actually doing customs for contests in a time frame anymore, I will really enjoy getting back to building just for the love of it. I really enjoy contests, and part of the reason I try so hard for the prizes is because I can't really afford to buy new kits with the baby coming, so I'm building up a stockpile of kits to build for the next few years. Who knows? Maybe I'll actually be able to submit a custom again at some point! My vote? Done in time = POST IT!!! Not in time = not for prizes (or submit for a future contest)

Rather than fight to reopen this contest, what about another contest? Perhaps a creative-only contest? Maybe if enough people can commit to it, ie. "I have an entry ready now" or "I will have an entry ready in X time", Pheno/mods can be persuaded? Just a thought.
