I was thinking about that on Zoidfans, and I have in mind that maybe a new championship, with ZP, Zoidfans and ZPH could be a good idea.

Another Grand Prix? Hopefully folks didn't use up all their last kits at ZP's! Will the contest be themed? I was thinking (and it is just ME thinking!) that I like the way Pheno's contest went back in '07. There were prizes for Best Paint, Best Build, Most Original, Best Story, and Best in Show. I like the idea of having different categories because someone may not be a scratch-building master but they can be unparalleled with paint. It's very different to build a "Lionel-esque" unique custom that looks just like a store bought kit and to make a super realistic diorama. I almost think it would be better to have 5 first prizes in different categories rather than a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize overall.
What do others think about this?

It will be a little bit different than the past, and a lot simpler in terms of what you can/can not due.
Hrm. I think I'll announce it all this Friday. Gives some time to get ready.

The categories votes is a good idea for me, but if we need an overall winner, we must do also a vote for an overall winner, and not a point system using the categories. I wasn't pleased by this system the last time here (maybe because it didn't help me, but that another story). You can find this custom better in paint, this better in building, and so, but you will find a custom far better than the other, only because that when you are looking at it, you like it better, without consideration for the parts used, the paint or the skills of the maker. On my side, it is this way I'm making my votes on contests.
So yes for categories, but for an overall winner, we should keep a simple vote of the members, only with their feelings.
And for a Grand prix, I had in mind to use ZP current finishing contest, Pheno contest, ZPH (it won't be hard to organise a contest here), and Zoidfans (if I can make something move here). Now after, what will be the system of vote, by judges (I already have one) or votes (but I'm needing to see how it can work), I don't know. And for a prize, well, I can't offer really an enormous thing. I maybe have a Gojulas HT somewhere that could fit.
But I want to organize a Grand Prix 2.

I would certainly agree with Maethius that this contest should be in a category format which I was hoping zoidspoison contest was categorized as well. Personally, I find it to be of a not fair that someone creating a whole new zoid with multiple parts will lose to someone who uses superb painting skills to win the competition or the other way around. That is why every custom contest should be in catergories. I'm also nervous about the outcome of ZP's contest.

There will be a few categories, but not like previous contests here. It'll be a bit different.
I'm game for having another collaboration at the end. This contest is set tentatively for winners to be announced June 1st.

Humm.... if the contest is start after March 20th, I think I will join. But I have questions about categories and time
-What kind of categories will be? (since I think I will have a Neo Blox entry anyway)
-Beside categories, will there a theme for different categories? (For example, If there is a Digi-Zoids theme for the blox categories, I can't use a Poke-Zoids to join)
-About the time, can you give more time for people to custom this time? (it's getting hard to get Zoids and parts now, longer time is easier to get enough parts to custom)

Agreements all around here. Lionel, spot on. "Best in show" should be a "feeling" based vote. I see voting in this kind of manner (considering there will be a single prize for the winner of each category as opposed to a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place); each voter would submit a single vote for the entry they feel is the single best in its category, then cast a single vote for the entry they feel should get "Best in Show". If there were levels of wins in each category I would say give votes for the top 3 places, but as it is let the votes stack up and haul the winner onto the podium!

Yeah, a separate vote for best in show works for me, though I didn't have a problem with the points system before.
And there'll be a longer time to work in, yes.

Im game with the GRAND PRIX2!
But.... IMHO, the only way we could have a Grand Prix wherein all involved winners from qualifier contest will be judged in a fair manner is we have a theme. And for the final... the winner whose entry has best represented his respective theme wins! Coz if we maintain an open themed contest for each group... chances are it might be wet market ending for the grand prix!
But thats just my 2 cents....

I think some people didn't like having a theme last time. Apparently "used in some form of racing, including violent competition, cross country, and anything else you can think of" is horribly restrictive ;p.
