I don't know if this has been shown before, so please delete this post if it has.
I had just received some whitehead Zoids and I did not have enough caps to assemble them and verify parts. I could have used regular caps, but I did not have a quantity that I wished to 'donate' for a test assembly. So, I scratched my Noggin. I glanced at My Hasbro Iron Kong that I converted into a PK and then it hit me.
Rubber Hose!
I started to assemble an aged tarnished Garantula from this Zoid Lot when I ran out of caps, which by the way all of the caps are nearly shot anyway.
Below is the rubber hose that I used to make the tubes for my Hasbro Iron Kong to mimic the PK. You can buy this tube at auto parts stores. I just call it replacement window washer hose, you can also ask for vacuum hose (Long story-- used on old cars). This size I believe is 1/8." There are other sizes. You can usually buy this hose for less than $1USD per foot. As you can see, it still has a film on it.
With a segment of hose cut-off, I clean it with glass cleaner and then shine it up with Amor All tire shine. The hose gets a satiny gloss black finish like this:
Next, I use a knife to cut-off a piece of hose that is about the same length as a Zoid Cap.
With the segments cut-off, I then gently work the rubber tube onto the peg of the Zoid and Presto! Assembled Zoid!
You can use this trick should you lose a cap or two on a Zoid such as command wolf where you can place the tube on one of the front legs where it is hidden under the armor and relocate the good cap to it's position on the visible part of the Zoid. And you are up and running again.
