Or is this a prologue? Ah well, you be the judge. I haven't dabbled in fanfics for quite some time, so this is my way of testing the waters. Please, let me know what you think.
Zoids Fuzors Epi-Prologue
By Chuckles
“Help . . . somebody help . . . me.” Moments ago, Alpha Richter had been the undisputed lord of Planet Zi; now he clawed through the dirt. Behind him, the Seismosaurus and his dreams of conquest laid in shambles. No! It couldn’t end like this! Many a despot had said it, but surely, Alpha would be the exception. His ambitions were far too magnanimous to be extinguished by just one defeat—no matter how massive. Blinded by his own thoughts, the fallen mayor of Blue City had failed to notice the Peace Keeping Officers until they were looming over him. Smug fools. Only moments before, they had cowered before his might. How quickly their confidence had returned now that he was helpless. No, not helpless . . . Zi’s once and future god had one last play in his employ. Alpha dropped his head in an exaggerated display of despair. The act bought him enough of a distraction to activate the remote control located on his wrist. By the time the PKO realized what he was doing, it was too late.
Miles away, the signal was received, and the remains of the Zoid Battle Arena exploded outwards! A zoid the color of fresh blood sprang into the sky to retrieve its master! The beast arrived on ragged wings with a frightening speed that was surpassed only by it’s hideous appearance—an amalgamation of four AI-infused beings sporting a hulking reptilian body, insectoid mandibles, simian-like arms, and the head of a demon. Chimera Dragon!
“*Watch your language!*!” Gummy cursed. Blue City’s finest retreated to their zoids without a moment’s hesitation, .
“That’s right, you brainless gorilla, run away.” The PKO’s Gojulas Giga could crush Chimera Dragon with nary a sweat, but Alpha would have made his grand exit long before it mobilized.
---------------------
Golden rays of a new day revealed an exhausted warrior and his battered steed. The sun’s warmth felt wonderful against his face, almost as if his body was absorbing it to replenish lost energy. Surrounded by his friends, RD was finally at peace. He had barely exited the Liger’s cockpit before Chimera Dragon arrived on the scene. If their past experience with the monster was any indication, the Dragon’s presence could only mean trouble. Zi’s newest hero wasted no time in scrambling into the pilot’s seat once more. He had said he could hardly wait to get back in, but this was ridiculous! The Liger Zero Falcon launched itself into the sky with a thunderous roar!
----------------------
Alpha spread his arms as if to embrace the monstrosity as it descended. Hope-fueled dementia drove what little sanity remained in the dictator's eyes. “Come to me, my pet! Deliver me from this backwater purgatory!” In his madness however, he had neglected another zoid . . . another threat to his escape.
The Jet Falcon’s incredible acceleration enabled RD to reach Chimera Dragon in an instant. Just as Liger was about to engage the beast however, twin shimmering streams of pink electron-infused energy cut through the morning light! Explosions rocked the Chimera’s frame, direct hit! The glow faded from the Fuzor’s eyes as it lost altitude. Bits of armor and structure continued to spill from the mortal wound, escorting the dragon down to Zi. Alpha Richter shrieked in terror while the flaming wreckage of his salvation fell around him.
RD panicked! The battle against Seismosaurus had taken its toll on his nerves. Liger Zero executed several wild evasive loops before finally landing and giving its weary pilot time to analyze the situation. Surveying the mortal remains of Chimera Dragon, a vivid memory crept into the Zi-Fighter’s head.
The scenario was eerily familiar: another battle interrupted by a surprise attack, and another powerful Fuzor suddenly slain. Only then, it had been the Matrix Dragon, and its killer was the then-enigmas Energy Liger. The Zero Falcon’s scanners followed the beam’s trace particles back to their point of origin. RD half expected to encounter the black phantom zoid again, but the blinding visage that greeted him was anything but.
The unknown zoid stood silhouetted against the sun; motionless, except for the sinuous flick of its tail. It looked as if it had been cut from a tapestry: pearl-hued wing blades arced into the air. Their regal beauty was eclipsed only by the glow of the zoid’s magnificent ivory armor. Even Liger growled in bewildered awe. Before man or zoid could make another move, the feline apparition vanished into the dawn.
