EDIT: I would've had the pics up sooner but I got lazy. Anyways, here you are. They're both basically the same size.
Time taken: 7+ hrs
Mmmm... gotta love that fresh-from-Japan smell!
First part's the head of course. Very few pieces used in comparison to the Shieldy and Bladey. The teeth are VERY sharp though. Nearly impailed myself on them a few times. They can be easily bent. The jaw joint was pretty weak so I took a bit of the sticker sheet and wrapped it around the peg to tighten it up.
Next is the neck and chest. The shoulder armor has little pegs that fit into the shoulder joints that causes them to move with the Zoids legs. This would work if the pegs holding the armor on didn't pop out so easily and weren't so loose.
The rest of the body is very sturdy and holds together well. Only a spot of glue is needed. The joints are pretty strong and holds a pose well.
The weapons are nice and detailed. Lots of bits went into them. The shoulder guns are too long and get in the way of the neck. Plus the shoulder armor they mount on is wiggly.
Now... one thing I found which really stressed me and Saber out is how tight the shoulder joint is. I could barely get the leg onto the peg because of tough it was; almost broke poor Saber (this is when I found out how sturdy this guy really is, NOTHING broke despite me having to use almost my entire upper body strength to get the legs on). I eventually sanded the pegs the legs attach to, much easier to move now.
Finished! The Saber Tiger is a pretty impressive kit. It has a lot less flimsy little pieces than it's lion based cousins, and has less pieces too, but doesn't skimp on the detail at all. Also it seems that Koto took all the things that pissed me off about the Ligers and fixed them with this kit such as tighter/stronger joints, not a lot of tiny brittle bits, stronger toe mounts and stuff like that. This guy can stand up to quite a bit of posing. I had to glue some bits on its legs to keep them together, but other than that much more pose friendly. Proportions are a little strange as the hind legs are really long looking, but still an awesome looking beast. Oh, and its tail bends too! ^^
Saber has no probs bitting large prey. Completely pwns all the others as far as jaw opening goes. Can open almost 180 degrees.
The forelegs have an interesting mechanism that makes the lower leg extend when its bent, and close back when stretched out.
Comparison shot. HMM Saber is slightly larger than its motorized counterpart, definitely longer.
RAWR!!!11!!
Overall, a very fantastic kit. There were some minor issues, and a major headache getting those shoulder joints to work. However it's all worth having a HMM Zoid that won't fall apart when you look at it! On a scale of 1 - 10, 10 being the best, I'd give this one an 8.5! Good job Koto! Btw, the claws are pretty sharp too.
