Blood/gore warning! This fic has parts that have descriptive violence, so don't say I didn't warn you..
This was started a year ago, and I was wary of posting it. A month ago I found the notebook it was written in, unfinished. I revised and changed it slightly, but if there are any errors, please, don't hesitate to give me some constructive crit, ok?
Also, at the beginning of each chapter is a quote from Machiavelli's "The Prince".
Name: The End justifies the Means
Rating: R-to be safe
Length: About 45 chapters
Summary: Told from the perspective of Naomi Baine, a Zoid pilot who lives alone, and begins to reinvent her life as events cause her to commit murder and take refuge in a foreign country.

The salty, metallic smell of blood hung heavily in the air, causing me to choke, my eyes watering from the unpleasant stench coming from the body leaning against the wall. I fell back wards, the knife in my hand dropping to the floor with a loud clatter.
"Oh my god.." There were two men in the doorway adjacent to me, and I looked up, panic rushing through my veins.
"What did you see?!" I hissed at them furiously. It was too dark to see them, so I swiftly grabbed for the knife that was now red to the hilt. There was no other option, if the Blade Liger wasn't nearby, I would have to be careful not to let on what I had done...Lest the police find me.
The two men backed up like animals from fire, I laughed. Was it wrong to laugh? I was afraid, confused, and sick. What's wrong with trying to calm myself down? I held the blade in front of myself carefully, trying not to show how terrified I really was.
As calmly as I could, given the situation, I slowly stepped forward, and with a low growl, I stated,
"You tell anyone about this, and I will kill you, understand?"
The two men backed up a little more, shock plastered on their faces. The taller of the two swallowed, and crept forward slightly, inching into the light so I could see him clearly. He was tan, with dark eyes and hair, wearing torn jeans and a t-shirt. I raised the knife quickly, and he held up his hands.
"Please! I-I won't try anything..! I swear.." He shook a little, eyes on the knife in my right hand. I studied him carefully, and made my decision.
"I would love to believe you, but unfortunately, you're a witness." I grinned nervously, and stepped back wards, away from the light, hoping they hadn't seen my face..Taking a deep breath, I lunged forward, pushing past them, and dashing out of the room, down a flight of stairs, and out the door of the house. I could hear their shouts and hurried footsteps. but the only thought rushing through my mind was...
"What the hell have I done?"

End prologue.

Chapter one will be posted tomorrow, and it will clarify a lot, I promise. The prolouge is vague, and not so good. Chapter one will be much better, so don't think to poorly of this yet!

The End justifies the Means - Prologue
"It is necessary to consider another point in examining the character of these principalities: that is, whether a prince has such power that, in case of need, he can support himself with his own resources, or whether he has always need of the assistance of others." - Chapter X, from "The Prince"
