The first of its kind. A fully posable Zoid kit manufactured by Kotobukiya. - 491 parts including 8 spring coils and 1 core - Took me a total of 6 hours and 30 minutes to complete this thing. The box art done by Yuji Kaida The contents The sprues The head - Took me 55 minutes to complete. - Be very careful with the teeth, they are extremely sharp! The body - Took me 3 hours to complete - Make sure you get all the parts needed before construction because it pretty tough to deconstruct once you missed a piece. Hind part Middle part Front part The idea of the core is really cool. Chest/belly part Tail Whole body The legs and paws - Took me 1 hour to complete 4 paws - Took me 2 hours and 30 minutes to complete the legs Pics The tail has an extra segment w/c won't be used but I opted to use it for a longer tail... looks nicer IMO. Longer tail Shorter tail (manual based) Fun pics

That looks excellent. This has got to be one of the best (if not the best) non-traditional type zoids I've ever seen (e.g. no motor). I can tell its a satisfying build. Would you say this takes the crown as the hardest zoid to build?
Now all we need is for them to build the equivalent Sabre model. BTW great pics, especially the fun ones (Dunno why, reminds me of He-Man & Battlecat).

Shhhhhhhhhhhhh ! ! Don't mention the sharp teeth ! Otherwise we'll be getting blobby rubber fangs like Not-so-Great Sabre ! Seriously, nice review with great pics. Although we do need more comparison shots with a regular Shieldy, plus comedy acrobatic shots. Two questions: 1 - Does the regular pilot fit ? (new or old version) 2 - Is it possible to mount a CP-01 onto the Koto Shieldy ? Or maybe the CP-12 Boosters ? I have my Koto Shieldy and Black Impact Blade Liger waiting for my next "Bachelor Day" when Mrs zed and Baby zed are out of the house ;D I'm gonna try to fuze them into a articulated BI Bladey. zed

As for the pilot, yes, the regular pilot fits in.. BL pilot Van, fits in very nicely...
For the CPs, I believe you can but you'll have to do a little modification that will include cutting and gluing.

2 - Is it possible to mount a CP-01 onto the Koto Shieldy ? Or maybe the CP-12 Boosters ? hanegaru.web.infoseek.co.jp/h0review_005.htmWith some republic custmize parts, it looks like you can mount CP-01. Not sure about 12, though....

I think you're the second member to do a review on the Koto SL (is this the a good abbreviation?), with the Stormhawk doing the first one on Zoidsposion. And both of you kept track of time spent on building it. Just curious, what is the sticker sheet? Is it stickers or rub-on decals? Stormhawk wasn't quite sure about it. And are you going to apply the stickers or not? I got one from Hidocker yesterday, so I'll see for myself pretty soon!

Hey mervin, how is the back segment of yours? mine tends to trop appart at a moments notice, because the squidgy polycaps keep misaligning.

Good to know theyre finally allowing sharp teeth (I guess this model is more 'adult'? blah) ... can you remove the core again and look at it, or is it just 'i know it's in there' ? also, I've heard someone else say that it was really forgiving if-you-mess-a-step-up, but you say you're kinda screwed if that happens.. Conflictatory!

Going by the multitude of previous photos I'd say the core is easily removable.

Snowflake - I haven't put mine together yet, but as there is no glue, you'll never be completely stuffed. But its probably not easy to take some parts apart, unless you take off another 20 or 30 other bits to get to the bit you need. When I put my Gildragon together, I missed the axle for the wings. Took me 20 minutes to dis-assemble the various bits. Not impossible, but not fun.
Neil - what do you plan to paint ? I was thinking a little panel lining on mne, but thats about it ...
