Released by both TOMY and Hasbro this kit has become very elusive. Glaive Quama EZ-059 is a small zoid consisiting of:
8 sprues
2 sticker sheets
One of the sprues contains 3 different figures. The (belly situated) pilot, as well as
a "mechanic" figure, and a figure reading a manual.
Different than the typical zoid build, construction starts with the head instead of the body.
Next work begins on the tailpiece of the Zoid.
The body is then put together which houses an interesting "hook" which will be reviewed later.
Next the legs are put into place.
The cockpit is also situated in an odd position.
The wings are then placed, one on each side of the cockpit.
The unit is then ready to have the stickers applied, and can be displayed in one of
two positions. In one mode the wings are in a fixed position.
When the head of the unit is depressed, it deploys the wings and puts Glaive into flight mode.
He is an interesting looking, very unique Zoid.
Glaive Quama humor break:
This Zoid has become rare. The one that I recieved has a major design flaw. The cockpit and wings are not held in place very well at all. The wing lowering mechanism works only half the time, and both the wings and cockpit constantly fall off the damn thing. It is a cool piece, cool enough to pay the approx. $60.00 USD that I paid to obtain it? Hell no, alas let's take a look at that hook:
This concludes the review of the infamous "Glaive Quama" it's a nice piece, but only nice if you are aching to add it to your collection. Save your cash for something bigger without a huge annoying flaw.
