There's already plenty of mugen liger reviews, so I'm going to attempt to avoid doubling up to much while covering what hasent been covered.... the construciton of this unique beastie.
To start with, Mugen actualy has a LOT of pieces. 6 sprues full of them. If this doesent seem like a lot, remember that genosaurer has 7 sprues. Slightly lager sprues true.
Still six sprues, 2 ratchet mounted blades, a couple o blox adaptors and a pre built body aint to bad, given mugen's less than princely cost.
Dontress and gravity saurer for scale
Mugen doesent have fiddly liger legs to assemble, but does have fiddly liger armour to wrap arround those legs.
Mugen armour is more reminiscent of deadborder than naything else, as it is built of layers of different colour plastics, which over hte dark blue background give a very pleasing effect
Mugen's detail stickers are a dream to work with, beautifuly precut and trimmed, they go on wiht hte flick of a blade, and are the same insanly thin stuff usedwith gildragon. This makes for simple, no peal aplicaiton.
Behold the naked mugen!
this is mugen stripped of weapons but with his major armour components attached. It is also the point of contention I have with the mugen instrucitons.
ON my mugen the headblades are tighter than a misers purse to fit. Pushing down onto the motorized spring loaded neck wiht enough force to install them probably would have caused damage, so
I removed the head armour, attached the blades and replaced.
The head fringes are also a feast of layers.
Again, i found the side headblades almost as tight as the top ones. Compared to Schnider, Gojulas Gigga, or Mursuame, this *Watch your language!* is tight.
The completed Mugen. Compred to his predecessors, Mursame and Hyate, Mugen delivers the goods. The armour is a tight fit, the moulding is crisp, the detailing stickers minimal and not pealy sucky.
Putting this together kinda made me pissed at tomy. If mursame and hyate had been within spitting distance of the quality of this outing then i suspect that the lnup ligers would have been just as popular as the zero, and not have been given such a dismissive nickname.
