This one's for you Adamassc, you lover of sniper zoids you
General Kit Background:
Heavy Arms Konig Wolf was a limited edition zoid made in 2003ish? and was only available through the zoidscore.com website, and was the second in their line of officially commissioned zoids. (Geno breaker jet and the zoids core box being the others). Limited to 3,000 pieces I think it was the first release of a konig wolf with the rare CP 22 and 23. It was also featured in the zoids web comic, the pilot Celia Luncraft (sp?) getting her own SRDX figure.
Special Features:
The zoid comes with a DVD (which I haven't had a chance to view yet as it's region 2 locked and I have to try it on a parent's computer) with some sort of zoids footage.
And of course, you get the hard to find CP 22 and 23 bundeled with the zoid.
The General Good:
It comes with 2 rare CPs, what's not to love? If you like konig wolf, it's an excellent variant of the kit and my personal favorite. It's extremely unique and I find the colors to be stunning. I've always been a fan of a sort of cobaltish blue, even though it's not metallic. Which is probably a good thing as I dislike my command wolf AC because it feels... greasy I guess.
Aaanyway the blue is very, very stratlingly bright. I don't have another zoid that matches it, the closest thing I have is my limited CP 26 on my Blue Unicorn Platoon Snipe Master. The caps aren't nearly as orange as they look in some pictures. They're a paler, dustier peach of sorts. It's very pretty imho. The zoid is also filled out with an odd yellowy color and an even odder brown for the body structure. I like the brown a lot, but i'm at a loss for how to actually describe it. I think you could say it's an aquired taste.
There's not much to remark about on the kit itself, as it really doesn't differ from the standard konig wolf except in color and the inclusion of the CPs. Speaking of which, like some of the other early limiteds I have noticed they give you seperate booklets for the CPs instead of reprinting the book with them included in the normal directions. Also, it has an interesting designation- EST-02.
Like the yuji kaida line, the box for HAKW is more like a shirt box than a standard zoid box, the bottom is white and blank. Also, the instruction sheet had no reprinting done to it and just says "konig wolf" on it.
The Bad:
The rarity and price of this bugger. I've been waiting 3 years to get one of these, it's one of my "dream zoids" along with blade liger mirage. Cross another off the list ^_^ HAKW rarely shows up on ebay these days,a nd when it does it commands about $100 MIB plus shipping- which is often $20-30 considering mostly asian sellers have it left in stock.
Reccomendation:
For the serious collector, or a lover of konig wolves. I consider this the premiere variant of the three, and don't really care for the MKII.
And now, for the pictures... ! (apologies that some of them are a little blurry, was having camera issues)
