I'm with Lord Phenotype. All Hayate needs is a little bit of love, and his booster pack rigged to the central ring. Once I've gotten ahold of some cash, I might have to get mr. Liger.

Why? Becuse that would require a lot MORE complexity of contrstuction, which would cost more to produce. Thus, but not oding it, they make the Zoid cheaper.

A lot of zoids get parts prepainted when they need to be two colors, and I'm always pleased with how those turn out. Can anyone think of a reason that wasn't an option here?

Yes, you can glue it, you can mod it, you can paint it and you can hack it apart. But that's not the point. A Zoid should be good out of the box to warrant buying it. And Pheno, there's always a first.

It costs a LOT More to have a part pre-painted then it does to produce a sticker. Furthermore, over a reatlively small area, its even more involved. Basically, I htink Tomy couldn't be arsed... but it is od when they put so many pre-paints on Deadly Kong, Rainbow Jerk and Graivty Moose. Rick R.

I just finished my Hayate, so I have a bit more to add - I adore kitty robots of all sorts, but this is one kitty I just can't bring myself to love.
More goodness:
There's quite a lot of detail to this guy's armour, which is a nice leap from Murasame. Having those shoulder grooves for the white markings makes this fellow a tad easier to paint. Murasame's lines were a huge pain in the ass the mask symetrically, so at least that's done with. His motorized walking is still a bit drunk, but it's more like 2 beers as opposed to a whole damn keg.
More badness:
When he gets moving though, the slight intoxication encourages him into some kind of robo strip-dance. The leg armour is held on with a minimal amount of pressure from clips on the front, so you'd better hope he doesn't bump into something. He cruised into my fridge at a blinding 4cm/second, causing at least 5 leg armour units to pop off. He continued with his attack on the fridge for another 10 seconds before turning enough to run away, but by that point he had also lost his backpack and another two pieces of armour.
By comparison, The only other liger of mine to shed pieces against an object was Energy Liger, and that was just the vinyl horn part.
More ugliness:
The ring that covers Murasame's sword mounting point also came loose, but it didn't hit the floor. It's an ugly problem in itself though, because I usually pick up a zoid by the tummy, and that ring always jimmies off. I that I'm yet to find a suitable place where I can pick up Hayate without something falling off.
The backpack presents another problem. It's fun to play with, but everytime I want to push the vents closed the whole unit pops off. It's held down with 4 pegs, but they're pretty loose. When open, the backpack also rubs up against the white headpiece vent-things.. which gives the whole area a bit of a clumsy look. Most of the zoid on the whole just has too many extraneous things sticking out here and there, so he really just doesn't look like he's made for battle.
..All in all, I'm going to be taking an exacto blade and lots of glue to this guy. He could look quite good with the backpack moved down and some of the parts trimmed down, but that's a project for another day.
