Iron Kong



Ze Good
Iron Kong's a cool Zoid, and this is one of his cheaper variants - built ones can go for as little as $15! You probably all already know what he does; he'll walk, flash his eyes and growl (a really odd mechanical shriek) every so often whilst his shoulder panel can be flipped up to reveal mortars underneath.

Ze Bad
I'll be honest...the colour scheme seems kinda odd to say the least. Light silver, dark silver and bright yellow. Eee. The light silver parts are very strange too and i've yet to see anything else like them on any other Zoid; not only are they metallic they also have little bits of silver glitter in them for an added twinkle.

Ze Ugly
THE MISSILE LAUNCHER HAS NO SPRING! OMG! What's the deal with that? Sure, you can swap one in, but that's not the point. Stupid health and safety... *mutters*

Conclusion
Mildly recommended

I saw that kinda of Iron Kong displayed in one of the TnJ shop in Hawaii. When I first saw it, I was like "No way that's the color scheme" and I was about to pick me up an Iron Kong.

Ugh. I don't think it's humanly possible to come up with a less intimidating colour scheme than that one. He looks like a wimp.

Every zoid ever released in the UK seemed to have had the coilspring taken out. Do they think we're incompetent or something??

Krark and Gore didn't have the springs taken out so much as they had their missile launchers remolded...

I almost like that better on Krark...saves playing hunt the missile when the darn things fly away on their own.

Baddox has the same launcher as Gore. In fact, no non Japanese Iron Kong has ever had the spring. I don;t htink that its that much of a loss, myself.

Personally, I kinda like the TZ Kong;s colour shcem. Its... differnt. yes. Its laso interesitng that he's not a direct colour swap from another Kong; Rather htne going red to yellow, one of hte frames went red to grey.

Question: Is it tkis version that introduced the light switch on the backpack, or is that exlcusive to the NAR Kong?

I had a look during building for that because of all the rumours i'd heard, but no, definitely no switch.

Oh, and the Zoids2 Kong had the spring.

I'd want it mostly for the lovely red eyes (and motor?) but actually those colors sound sorta neat... like a soldier or sort of a spaceman kong

I got this Kong for one reason; customizing. What I like about it is that it uses a C-cell battery rather than a pair of AA-cells... notice the different shape of the chest armor... it has a large "intake" on the stomach to accommodate the larger engine.

As for the colors, if you see this boy panel-lined and well labeled with some back-blast scorching it looks heavy and industrial. All of my Zoids have detailed hydraulics, cables and cockpits... put those details on the TZ-IK and you might change your tune! (remember that the Yeti is essentially just a white and green Kong, but it really looks great with details!)

Pink and purple? wait then hed look like a pimp..........

MADE for parts swapping, the yellow would rock with black, whereas two shades of silver go with anything! (especially maroon!)
The red eyes are the most appealing thing I think.
