*Has Andy's address* Don't worry Andy. I won't let them near you or your Zoids. But Shenny does have a good idea of just letting people PP you the money directly to buy it.

Add on to a previous question - How much extra would it cost for a CD? I can't afford to buy it this payday (Parents are gonna try and buy another car), but next friday I may be able to beg some money off of them. I have dial up, and while I can sometimes get files to download, larger ones (8+ MB) sometimes finish to soon and thus are corrupt, so if the download link didnt work how much extra would it cost to order it on a CD+Shipping?

Think you could make some kind of demo for us to try out?

Think you could make some kind of demo for us to try out? Probably not. I tried to cut it down a bit but so much of the coding is essential that the demo's file size was only a tiny bit smaller than that of the full game! Well the CD would be about 50p, shipping to the US would be about £1.50 to £2.00. Yes, that would be fine. Payments can go to gilvandy87@yahoo.com and please include your forum name so I know who you are.

I was going to buy it this morning, but Command Wolf Red stopped me! Yeah, I saw. Nice buy. Either you got a steal there or the last one on ebay was won by someone with a money tree...

I haven't played much of the game yet - only to the end of the second or third level. At its core, it seems a great game, but there are a couple of thing that have irked me so far: * Lives - modern game design tends away from the 'lives' concept - it drives players into 'play-saving' behaviour, which is not fun. In my opinion, you should drop lives from the game altogether - either having the player respawn at the start of the level each time they die or dropping the player back to the hub when they die. * Repairing - this adds a level of micromanagement that isn't really required, and isn't fun. It would be better to reset Zoid HP after each death. You could get a similar damage penalty by dropping the level clear credits and adding a health bonus instead - but this would be feel more like a bonus than a penalty, which is far nicer for a player to receive. (note - having both lives and health is especially irksome - if you must have one, it would be preferable to have just one - either resetting health at each death and level clear (limited lives) OR having destroyed zoids reset to only 10% of HP (unlimited lives). Though obviously I think it would be better to drop both concepts - they are levels of complexity that don't add anything to the game) * Resolution - full-screen would have been great. If you had to choose between windowed and full-screen, the latter probably would have been a better choice. * Contrast - it is really difficult to keep track of the health/energy bars. It would be better if you were to use higher contrast colour-schemes. * Dynamo - this is a neat concept, but it's kind of trivialised by being able to recharge by just mashing left and right - effectively recharging without moving anywhere. Given that, it probably would have been simpler and more playable to simply have energy recharge at a constant rate. * Instant death spikes - I only hit these once, at the end of what I believe was the second level. I had killed all the enemies and was proceeding to the right. There was a big jump over some spikes. I didn't make the jump and I exploded - I assume that the spikes instantly killed them, because I think I had a fair bit of life left. Instant death in a game with HPs should be a very sparingly used technique, and should generally only happen when a player is moving outside of the play area. * Difficulty ramp - the above situation is a frustrating one that should be avoided - you don't want to put an especially difficult/unusual bit at the END of a level. New elements should be introduced near the start, so the penalty for finding out what they do is not so tough. As I said, in the short time that I've played it, Revolutions seems inspired, and the core mechanics are pretty damn fantastic, especially considered that it's all just one person coding it! I think you have made a few mistakes, but they are 'mistakes' that many people have made before. I recommend that you check out some of the stuff Ernest Adams has written on usability and game design, for instance this book: www.amazon.com/gp/product/1592730019/104-9341307-5779127?v=glance&n=283155Something else you might want to look into is seeing whether Tomy would be interested in developing a game like this for Live Arcade. They have already demonstrated a very openminded attitude to X360, and this is the sort of game that would be ideal for the downloadable platform. You already have a fully working proof of concept, and with a little bit of money behind you, you might be able to get some artists on board and push out a very successful game. Maybe leave it a month or two to sell through what you already have, just in case drawing Tomy's attention to a fan project that you're selling isn't a very good idea. To reiterate - awesome work.

Hrm, you've raised some good points and I agree with most of them. However, I'd be loathed to get rid of lives and HP-repair since this is a platform game at heart and I felt it needed them. Perhaps they aren't essential but I felt it added a little sense of realism that you're not invincible.

FYI, including lives in New Super Mario Bros is one of the main gripes about the game, and why a lot of western developers feel that Miyamoto has failed to keep up with contemporary game design. Of course, there are many people who feel otherwise. If you think the game is better and more fun with lives, keep them in!

Things have changed since I used to play on my little Game Boy then!

I think I'm going to wait this one out, even though I'd absolutely love to get it. I'm currently having problems with my computor, and I don't feel like paying 14$ twice.
