I wasn't sure what catagory to place this thread. I hope this will do. While making my lithophanes I intend to send out to my aunts for christmas I decided to make one for me as well. A lithophane is a picture made with varying thicknesses so that when light shines thru is creates the picture. So this is the one I made for me. Without light With light. Well anyway that's one of the things I made.

Wow... I don't think I've ever seen that form of art! Very cool, and this is a great board to showcase it!

You also get somewhat of a 3d effect to the picture as well.

This is a very interesting, historic, and unique art style. The closest I ever did to anything like that was copperplate (copper impression) when I was in my teenage years, which in itself is a very old art.
Relying on the thickness of the semi-transparent material is a very clever way of creating light and shadow. Very neat artwork!

Oh I like that. The detail really pops in those lighter parts. How long have you been making these?

Oh I like that. The detail really pops in those lighter parts. How long have you been making these? Not very long at all. Crealitycloud app has a lithophane maker in their app. You simply upload the pic you want to turn into one and it spits it out. Since they are thin they take very little time to print up and very little resin as well. Besides this the app also has a pencil holder cup and a planet maker in it as well. Hense the zoids logo pencil holder was made and the planet Zi globe. The globe required a few work arounds to put a square map onto a sphere but I finally did get one produced. I do want to rework that one more time but since crealitycloud app wasn't showing any of my works I removed all my stuff and moved over to thangs.com where at least it shows up in a search. Search 'zoids' to find what little I've managed to produce with the help of the app and a few other online tools.
