Just got word from my contact in Japan that the next LTD Zoid will be a Holotech (formerly known as crystal) Gojulas and will be a TRU exclusive. That's all the info I have at this point. -Pheno

*adds changing some bits of site and adding rant on the terms "crystal" and "Holotech" to list of things to do before forking in new menu*
I wonder if we're talking the all-clear Holotech, the colored-clear, or what. Either way, I might actually have to chase that down if it's a Gojulas Gojulas and not Giga or LBZ. Separate glowy eyes + clear plastic would be very fun.

I think it'll be a 'new' holotech, like Molga-Redhorn-Deathsaurer. After all, the 3 original ones were all Imperial, perhaps now they'll do a Republic set of 3 for them to play with.

Yeah, it will be a "clear" Holotech and it will be the original Gojulas, not Giga or LBZ, as far as I know. -Pheno

Well they certainly like attacking the limited end of buisness in giant lumps, don't they.
It seems like a strange time to pump out that forest one, this one, and the neo blox one all at once. I could understand why they went overkill on Murasame limiteds (with being the star of a current anime and all)... but they must have some kind of marketing idea for Gojulas. I hope.

Doubt it, they're probably just trying to cash-in on the '80s nostalgia that's so big right now. -Pheno

Yeah, time and time again throught the fan industry, nostalgia seems to be the big winner. Moreso in Japan, a huge amount of fans were asked which manga/anime series they'd like to see adapted to a live-action version and something like 80% of the top 20 or so were pretty old. Slam Dunk, Saint Seiya and so forth.
Either way, here's hoping we really do get a trio of Republic Clear zoids in the vein of the three Empire. Leaves me wondering what the other two would be if they did intend to do it like that xp Being a TRU exclusive though, Amenbo will likely offer a proxy service for it. Time to watch like a hawk!

Yeah, but anime has actually gotten lower in plot quality. That's something quantifiable. Old toys, however, tend to look laughable after a while.. if nothing else, because of their depiction of lumbering, ungraceful dinosaurs. Why is it so hard to find speedy cool raptor toys?

"Proper" dinosaurs are harder to model-ify because a Zoid can't shift and distribute its weight the same ways. That's why most critters shuffle, too...but I don't really care how accurate something is if it looks neat.
Hrm, classic republic things...Shield Liger and...Cannon Tortoise? Godos?
Not as cool as entirely clear Gilvy, Deadborder and...um...small Guylos-y thing...Gul Tiger Rev Raptor :p!

People who keep up with my Random Reviews(should be everyone here) knows my feelings on Gojulas. Even with that aside, it does seem like they're riding this mold hard.
It'll be kinda neat though, you could pit him against Crystal Deathsaurer-It would be a fun battle, with a clear winner!

Yeah, but anime has actually gotten lower in plot quality. That's something quantifiable. You're so very vrery horribly wrong. Time for a versus match to sort this out Match One Golion (aka lionforce voltron) V Gravion Both are combiner robot animes. Both have sentaish teams of pilots. Both have real rather high levels of fanservice when you get right down to it In Golion's favour it went 4 seasons as opposed to gravion's 2. Plot wise however, every single goddamend golion episode is the same. Form blazing sword, defeat robeast. In gravion they have a blazing sword equivlent, but thye have adapting robot enemies that mee nthey have to use different tatics eery time or be horribly defeated. In Golion thes no character development worht a damn. certianly nobody actualy LEARNS anything or changes a behaviour. In my opinon, plot wise, character develoopment wise, and fighting scene wise gravion wins hands down. Match 2 Transformers, generation 1, V Gundam SEED Now this is a matchup indeed, made of me watching seed and gen 1 in alternate chunks. Got lots of happy memories of watching transformers as a kid, but plothole centeral and lets sell the new toy line is what its made of. Once you go past the first 3 epidoses thers no real attempt to keep the plot coherent from episode ot episdoe, and character replacement is used instead of character development. meanchwile seed uses the refined, mk3 gundam standard plot, which although a recycled concept, leaves plenty of room to have unique characters, plot development, character development, and even semi realistic reasons for the mid show upgrades. the crux of each show is selling robot toys, and thers no arguying that old transformers sell for more than old gunams, however, when you get down to it, ones rewatchable and very enjoyable, and one is a coleciton of incoherent 25 minute toy comercials. I could come up wiht more. But the fact o the matter is i dont have to. If animaiton was only about 20 minute toy comercials today, it wouldnt be the multi million industry it is. And if you think speedy raptor toy = jurasic park raptor please please PLEASE do some research. Currently palentoligsts who specilise in carnivours think raptors were like ostriches of death with meathooks. Now getting to the crux of the matter. I mentioned last year that it appeared to me that tomy had spent a lot of effort refurbishing the mould of gojulas. Having aquired the mk2 reissue, comparing it to a zoidzilla, Zoidzilla 2 and NJR gojulas, it became quite obvious that the casting on it was better than any issue except the origional. I fully expected TOMY to put the mould too work, after all spending the sort of money they had to refurbish it wouldnt have been profitable otherwise. The use of it in limited editions will allow them to do small produciton runs and check the mould. It also allows for tighter quality controll, not a bad idea after the genisis problems. After all, gojulas RZ-001, is the flagship design of zoids, even 20 years on. Do I expect more limited gojuli? Yeah, I do.

Well put, Ranty. I have to agree. Most old animation is SEVERELY lacking in story.
Ever catch an episode of Gigantor? I laughed non-stop.
Anime plot-quality has gone up. A lot.
As far as a new set of three clear zoidies goes, I bet it'll be Goji, Sheildy, and the Tortoise.
