Racing sounds great by me. I've always thought that was a neglected thing in-universe. We had sports battles, sure, but I'm sure there'd be pilots interested in testing how they could soup up their Zoids for speed. Though Pheno's annual contest has always been free-for-all, maybe there could be some mid-year...thing. Especially in the form of a combined fanfiction-custom-fanart contest. *ponders* I'd be in for the racing, too. Just don't linit the type of zoids anyfurther beyond "racing' type. ...I even confuse myself sometimes...

Great job you guys. I didn't vote, which I now feel ashamed of, but my votes would not have changed the results. I feel that Agathus should have had a higher rank than it did... I personally thought it was teh most creative of the entries, with Paladin as the most complex and overall best, and Ped's as the best paint job, followed closely by Abaddon's Wraith Bane (sp?). I don't like the fanfic catagory, and none of the stories, IMO, seemed to be original, funny, or creative. Atleast to me. I personally thought this year would have been good for a theme. I wish people on this forum would be interested in doing group builds, but none seem to be. (If anybody wants to know what I'm talking about , just pm me. I'll explain it in great detail.) Anyways, themes I think would be extremely interesting, and that might produce some great entries are: Countries/G-Gundam style - People raffle for a country on earth, and then they build a Zoid using the cultural style they see fit for that country. One entry per country. Cities/G-GUndam style - same as countries, but this is instead a custom contest based on people representing different cities. One entry per city, same thing. Racing, which has been said before.

The story category was there to encourage people to write, because it's a neglected thing with customs. It's possible to write really interesting stuff in 500 words, be it funny or serious...most people did fluff text, but there was no requirement for that, just 500 words of whatever story about the Zoid you thought best suited it. Also, thanks to the four people who voted for my story: Maethius, Kaelin, Gojulas Omega, Abaddon I was torn between yours and Houndtrupen's and ended up rolling a die...which prevented a three-way tie in the end(!), but doesn't show on the surface that I liked your story too. (If the next contest has a theme, I may be at a disadvantage... I'm an old fashioned Zoider, and my mind is stuck in military land!) Hey, the battle story worked in some tourney stuff in its future, and I can adapt to racing stuff. Just think of the factions still wanting to compete and show off their Zoids...

hey, I got one vote! I think that's a new record for me! This was also my first custom not specifically built for a pilot.

Thanks. I did an alternative light hearted one that I sent later that didn't make it to the official page since I thought I'm only allowed one story. Did you like that as well? Like you (and maybe others), I had a hard time deciding on the picking just 1 for each category. Maybe next time we could choose up to 3 customs in a category. The story category was there to encourage people to write, because it's a neglected thing with customs. It's possible to write really interesting stuff in 500 words, be it funny or serious...most people did fluff text, but there was no requirement for that, just 500 words of whatever story about the Zoid you thought best suited it. Also, is this the category where you were amused? It finishes the 14th (12:00 AM), it's 10:15 AM on the 12th my time, guys . *is amused by the closeness of one particular category*

Yes, Story kept changing winner-wise, and for a bit I had a three-way tie. Before that it had another pair of Zoids bouncing back and forth for first.
I liked the alternate storything too...maybe I could add it to the page now that the contest is over, once I update it to reflect the winners.

Arctic was really well done, too! Could almost have three paint catagories:
1) Most realistic paint job
2) Most attractive paint job
3) (just for Lionel!) Most "looks like it came off the sprues!" paint job

Congratulations to the winners... I hope this contest may serve as a challenge to make better customs. We still have to wait for next year for the next Custom Contest.
