My copy of Zoids Full Metal Crash arrived yesterday, along with the Blade Hawk that I still have to decide whether I want to build (I have to murasame, so Pterorayse would likely tease the lonely BladeHawk).
I haven't yet played it, because I have no Gamecube at home - I'll be playing it on the work GC at lunch today, so stay tuned.
One amusing thing from the manual is the anglicised pilot names. It starts off okay:
The brunette girl's name is "Re-Mei"
Then it deterorates a little:
The boy with the goggles is named "Luge"
Then it goes oh-so-horribly wrong:
The enormous ginger fellow is called "Gharagah"
That's not a name. It clearing-your-throat onomatopoeia.

This only adds to my suspicion that ruuji is meant to be something else name-wise, not Ruuji, and we just haven't figured out what.
I can only hope that (unlike poor Shuu) we get an official romanization that isn't obviously messed up. If we get a dub and they pick something, I'm sure it'll be bad/wrong/evil/etc..

But we're all so used to calling him Ruuji so it won't really matter what they decide his name to be, if they do.

I just ran around the house saying 'Gharagah'. It's far more amusing if you pretend you are an Alien Queen and walk like a Tyrannosaurus Rex.
"Gaaagrrhh! Gharagahhhh! Graahglptewie!"

But we're all so used to calling him Ruuji so it won't really matter what they decide his name to be, if they do. If I found concrete reason to call Shuu Siu, I'd get to find-replacing in...five seconds flat. I love finding out the proper way to translate something, like pieces of a puzzle... Or maybe I'm just weird.

This is all keeping in mind that "official" spelling's can somtimes go a bit awry. Examples include Displeow and Styluarmour (incidentally the romanisation used for some website URL's is "steelarmour").
And on a completely random note, Tomy's SRGK's state that the spellings of two popular GF characters are "Moonbey" and "Rease".

Meh, sticking with Ruuji, Mii, and Galaga seeing as that's how they're spelled out everywhere else.
After all....in the end it's the same people who gave us "Dedory/Deadry Kong", "Hebby Rhymos", and "Molga Cannory"...
Obviously their grasp on English isn't too great.
I'm curious to how they spelled Ra Kan, Kotona Elegance, Ron Mangan, Seijuurou, Bit Cloud, Ban, Raven, Vega, and all the other playable characters...

I remember zoids battle legends had terrible romanization, but i was surprised and pleased that they managed to get 'schwarz' right, unlike the dub

Their name isn't Schubaltz? But it sounds so cute and defined.

The kana are more Schwarz to me (remember the W is V-ish, and V sounds often are written with B sounds in kana)...and Karl had that black lily. It's also a common enough German name.
Either way, the dub didn't manage to muck up anything as badly as "Sheterma", so hey :p.

Yeah, but they do say Thoma in the show, and unfortunately on BL.
