Doesn't it though! I just acquired a US/JP gamecube last week, so have been playing lots of FMC. I spent some time last night trying to find out what Fiona does when you use her as a sub-pilot (she doesn't add stats), eventually getting some sums describing how she improves Ex bar generation. I've also been trying to keep notes as I work through story mode. Fingers crossed I'll figure out how to unlock the last few zoids... Have also been playing some VS3, and it made me realise that one of the things I like most about FMC is that the CPC attacks are normal attacks - you don't need to fill the Ex bar in order to use them.

I've had mine for a while now(whenever I started this thread), and mine STILL won't work. Did you get yours from PlayAsia.com? That's where I got mine. I remember that I bought the Freeloader and FMC together, and looked So forward to playng it, but... I don't know what's wrong. I have a US Gamecube, platinum color...What's yours? Mine also saus European Version 1.0, or something like that on the instruction book. I tried all loading methods, but my TV has a red bar that comes across the screen saying the disc cannot be read,so I guess it is not even loading...

Ok.. I have a platinum colour gamecube also... but It says nothing about european version 1.0,... The freeloader disc I bought was from england and it quoted "for european consoles"... so I must have something the like first time round I turned the gamecube on with no disc, clicked on gameplay so it said "no disc".... Inserted the freeloader and it also said "no disc".... i was like what the %$%*.. i took it out tried again, it said the same thing...... I then reseted the console , went to the gameplay "no disc" screen again, inserted it one more time and it worked!... you will see this soon enough: once you done that the fun begins Good luck comandliger... I wish you luck and keep trying! it is worth it

Thats the problem, European and Australian discs run in PAL while your US GC runs in NTSC which is for US and canada. So you need a copy of freeloader which runs off NTSC not PAL to actually start the game. This is the copy you need: stretchy fleabay linkHope that helps

Thanks Vig and you to fuzzypanda(But I don't have a Paypal account.) Vig, I wasn't real clear earlier.. I meant that my Freeloader's instruction booklet says, " Version 1.0 European Version." Sorry 'bout that. I will try to do as you said, and I sure hope it will work... That's good pictures, too... I envy you, cause I've had my Freeloader for a while now, and it still didn't work the last I tried. I will let ya know if I have success this time!

Hey, fuzzypanda, I have sent the seller a message asking him for more details^^^Thanks so much for posting the link. You are right about what the games 'run' in. I have the NTSC U.S. Gamecube, and I got to reading my Freeloader case really close and I find some fine print that says,"Compatible with PAL televisions and game systems only." So I do need a NTSC Freeloader! When I ordered mine from PlayAsia.com it said NOTHING about this being a PAL Freeloader.... False advertising, huh? So Vig, I guess I don't have to tell ya it still doesn't play.. Thanks so much, both fuzzypanda and Vig!!! I'll let ya know what I haer from the eBay seller, fuzzypanda.

Odd - this site claims that the Freeloader discs are region free: www.ntsc-uk.com/tech.php?tech=FreeloaderGuideThough play-asia clearly has several different freeloader regions listed. Perhaps the older. GC-only freeloader was region free (the covers have three flags on) and the new Wii-compatible freeloader is region locked. CommandLiger - if your freeloader is version 1.0, it sounds like it must be the Wii compatible one, right? Have you tried contacting Play-Asia to ask them why they sent you a PAL version even though you clearly live in the US? Since you have a US gamecube, it might be worth having a region switch installed instead of getting a new freeloader. Then you can play US and JP games just by toggling a switch (though you can't play EU games), and it doesn't scramble japanese text like freeloader (and modchips) does. NCSX used to install the switches, dunno what they cost: www.ncsx.com/ncs062501/nicky_quick.htm

fuzzypanda: The seller's description sounded just like the piece of garbage I have... So, I am NOT about to bid on that. Thanks again for all of your help. KAndrw: When I bought my Freeloader from PlayAsia.com, they only had the one version( The one with three flags on the front of the case.), so I didn't know that it was the wrong region. You see, it clearly says for use with PAL systems only, so it is NOT region free. I did not contact them because I did not know there was different region Freeloaders, and when I ordered mine(This past December.) I do not think the new Freeloaders had been made yet, or at least PlayAsia didn't have them. I still think they should have specified that this older version 1.0 is only for PAL systems... I am going to keep an eye on PlayAsia.com in the hopes that the U.S. VERSION WILL BE RESTOCKED!!! At least they have that version listed now... I don't want to send my GC off to have the region swithch installed, since the only game in Japanese I want to play is FMC, or other Zoids games. Thanks, though.

To quote the manual from the European 1.0 freeloader:
By Datel's own words a Pal Freeloader should work on a NTSC system. The "Compatible with Pal Televisions and game systems only" could just be printed to avoid legal issues...
But then again, the latter could be the truth and Datel could've just said the former to make the Freeloader sound better than it really is!
Vig, That's not the screen I see when I use mine... I just get a box of text telling me to eject the disk and put the game in.

KAndrw: When I bought my Freeloader from PlayAsia.com, they only had the one version( The one with three flags on the front of the case.), so I didn't know that it was the wrong region. probably this one: www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-28-77-3-49-en-15-freeloader-70-1ik.htmlOnly compatible with gamecube (not Wii), totally region free. So what they ACTUALLY sent you was this one: www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-28-77-1-49-en-15-freeloader-70-1ssi.htmlCompatible with GC and Wii, but locked to one region Just so you know - it's actually a newer version - the Wii compatible version is the latest, and currently is version 1.0. The older version had its own version count, and was up to something like 1.06b when it was discontinued. That Datel decided to keep almost identical packaging but reset the version count is pretty stink. That's just going to confuse consumers. You should definitely contact Play-Asia immediately and tell them that they DID NOT SEND YOU THE ITEM YOU ORDERED. You ordered a region-free Freeloader, and they sent you something that was not only different, but was incompatible was your system, and almost every other system in the country where you live. It was probably a mistake on their part, and they're generally pretty good at sorting out mistakes. Of course, any time I've wanted them to do something I've started the email with something along the lines of "I am about to file a PayPal claim...", which puts them in a fairly compliant mood.

For the record, this is the box cover of my European 1.0 Freeloader. Note that there is no mention of version 1.0 anywhere on the cover (also not on the back or even on the disc) The only place it does mention that it's version 1.0 is in the manual. Is this of any help?
