This is not a Digimon or Takari thread. It's Zoids. Let's leave Digimon romances out of this before a rabid Takari fan shows up.

It wasn't in the ending, anyway...then again, everyone comes up with ways to make the poor thing invalid since it didn't have (couple here) in it :p...
That's why I don't like official pairings-all it does is cause annoying fights in fandoms.

There are two big mistakes fans make when it comes to anime romance.
1. People tend to assume the evidence they see is fact. In a lot of cases, evidence is in the eye of the beholder and isn't anywhere near as solid as people like to think. Two characters standing together can look romantic to one person, and totally impartial to another.
2. When writing a fan fic about a romance couple, fans rely too heavily on the show for support. I witnessed this is Digimon fics and I see it in a lot of Zoids fics. People just say "Moonbay and Irvine are in love," "Bit and Leena are married," etc. There's no development behind the romance; fans just point to the show as evidence, which goes back to mistake #1. I think the best romance stories take time to develope mutual feelings between the characters long before they declare undying love.

That's why they are called, FAN-FICS! Fics are based upon the opinion of the author. It doesn't mean the author is right, but it might turn out to be a good story. It's what they believe...(sorry for the rant... )

Yeah, but just saying "they're in love" doesn't work. The old show, not tell advice, as it were.
If I didn't stick at serious fics, I might try my hand at a romance like that. But I can't write them either...

It's what they believe...(sorry for the rant... ) A fic that bluntly states an author's opinion isn't well received by fans, all of whom have varying opinions. But if you take the time to develop the plot and characters into a believable scenario that supports your opinion, fans usually enjoy your works, and better understand your viewpoint. You might even change a few minds. I define fan fiction as work that uses a television show's plot as a springboard for the writer's own ideas. You start with the basic plot and characters, but then you take it wherever you choose. You can have any character fall in love, but just saying "they love each other" is a very weak way of doing things. Any fic that does so has always fallen short.

Harry and leena were made out to be getting closer to eachother in some episodes and it was made obvious. But what I find funny is in zoids GF people were/are all over van and fionas relationship, even though thomas was hitting on her. van didn't seem to care, this shows people love to stretch the truth.

Harry and leena were made out to be getting closer to eachother in some episodes and it was made obvious. I'm not sure what you mean by "getting closer." Leena definitly became friendlier to Harry (although still abused him somewhat), and Harry never stopped loving Leena. But I don't think Leena had even the slightest bit of romantic interest in Harry. She loved that he was in love with her. It fueled her ego. But this is just my view of events. This again touches on an individual's interpretation. Irvine basically stated that Fiona loved Van, and I got the impression that Van returned that affection (though nowhere near as openly as Thomas). I felt so sorry for Thomas because I thought he and Fiona would be a good match as well. I always feel sorry for guys with unrequited love. Except for Harry, because I think he'd be better off finding someone who treated him better than Leena.

Yeah leo, your right that saying that "they are in love" doesn't cut it. Most of the Van/Fiona fics i see have them with kids and stuff in the beginning, I don't like those I read very few Harry/Leena because there are very few about them. Bit/Leena everywhere! Some are good because their relationship develops. But most are just flat out. As for Brad and Naomi... ;D, but then there's that little argument about Naomi and Leon...well, now I see how it goes, it screws it up and causes fights... Okay I'm beginning to rant now, so I agree with you guys ;D

I think Fiona definitely has a crush on Van in the Zoids manga, or at least that's what Moonbay and Irvine think. I haven't read very far, so I could be wrong. It'd be the cutest damn couple ever, though ;D
