Missed this one too as some other members that are here for years😅
I can clearly remember it was Trooper Zoid OER. The combination of building the zoid, the movement and the pilots you can play with was so fantastic. And Trooperzoid had this cool additional parts that make it even more fun.

And I even have proof haha (I edited out my head, cause don't like pictures), but that was 4 year old me with Cosmozoid back in 1985 and the year after at Christmas, my Kroc. Attachments:

Great pictures! Thanks for sharing My first Zoid was a Stegazoid way back in 1984. Unfortunately, all that's left is the head and pilot/mind-rider but he still takes pride of place in my collection (atop my Zoids2 Ultrasaurus).

Hasbro Command Wolf. I recall it being April 2002. I had become a huge fan of the TV show, and was excited to see TV ads for the "toys" but because I live in a pretty rural area, always behind times and last to get things in... That first Zoid came about on an out of town shopping trip. I was 12 years old and begged my parents for said "toy." I remember I could NOT wait to get home to play with said toy and opened the box on the hour plus car ride home, and the CW motor fell into my lap. I was shocked, I had to build this?! Heck no! I asked mom if I could take it back, she said nope I wanted it so bad, I was to keep it and enjoy it. Her mistake, I eventually owned over 200 of them. I still have them, a bedroom dedicated to them and them only. But I have not actually bought a kit in well over 2 years, maybe 3. This is the first I have posted on this forum since 2015... I am not sure what happened really. For one, I began to become very limited on space, and it is not as fun when you have to carefully plan "Do I really have room for that?" I still have a handful of totally unbuilt kits too. For 2, I never got into the koto/hmm line and I guess I kinda just gave up...I am excited about this new line, Zoids Wild, and excited to see zoids trying to make a come back. Fingers are crossed there will be a US release.

Haha, what a great way to get into Zoids commandliger! I can't remember if I saw the TV show first or the models on store shelves first, but either way my first kit was a Heldigunner. I thought the rubber hoses were cool and the kit's engineering was so advanced-- little did I know the original Heldigunner was older than I was

First ever Zoid I saw the OG Iron Kong but never got around to owning one until yesterday.
First ever Zoid bought was the Technozoids Strike-Zilla, still need to get that boy back.

I believe it was Elepantus, or Garius. Rather, their unnamed equivalents from the "Pre-Hysterical Monster Machines" line. I eventually had all 5 plus another Elepantus and Garantula. I would battle them using an increasingly elaborate system which became Zoids Tactical. Which needs a brush-up for a... um ... 40th anniversary edition. Oy. Gods' tits, I feel old.

Alright, just to get this out of my skull. My first Robo Strux was Spartak, I wondered if this was some strange revival of Zoids. (Spoilers: It was.) I got a few more before the line disappeared. My first OJR was my old and dear friend, Gelder (or Geruder... I prefer Gelder, seeing as his main battery is about crotch height to a Godos). I was delighted to find the line was still alive in Japan, and spent entirely too much allowance on them. Techno Zoids I first got a Demon Lizard, which I was so disappointed in I actually took it back.
