I was inspired to make this custom after seeing Ema’s Lord Gale in the Galaxy Quest: Planet Zi manga, but since Deantler pieces are ridiculously brittle, I went with some sturdier Laser & Scissor Storm parts instead. Also, to my surprise, the Shell Karn hands can actually hold 3mm peg weapons commonly used by HG Gunpla kits, so that really opened up the accessory potential.
Long before the Digald army obtained its Bio Zoids, the peaceful generator villages of Zi found themselves in the crosshairs of the Warlord Gale; a terrifying Gargoyle type zoid, piloted by an unknown bandit with dreams of conquest.
Sporting a multitude of weapons, incredible strength, and even limited flight, there were few zoids capable of standing up to the Warlord Gale’s reign of terror, leaving it free to subjugate most any village it chose for precious regel and other resources.
In time however, Digald’s influence began creeping into the Warlord Gale’s hunting grounds, eclipsing it as a threat. Whereas a single Chimera Blox could only plunder so much at a time, the vast appetite of the Digald warmachine ensured that there was little left for anyone. As pickings grew steadily slimmer, the Warlord Gale took up arms against its would-be competitors and so it came to be that Digald got a taste of what being the victim was like.
The infamous Hell Armor of the Bio Zoids may as well have been butter against the Gale’s Metal Zi weapons: a dual glaive dubbed “Salsa Maker” and a naginata known as the “Happy-Pokey Stick”. Before long, Digald Commanders grew increasingly hesitant to target villages in their domain, less the raid suddenly turn into an ambush.
As for the Warlord Gale, what had once been a symbol of dread became a beacon of hope for the downtrodden, and an avatar of rebellion against the Digald invaders. In time, a few grateful villagers were even lining up to offer it supplies. While conquering hearts was never part of the plan, it would nonetheless make the Warlord Gale’s campaign easier, especially when it could eventually usurp Digald’s leadership and claim it’s military resources…
