Why? Because I was watching Youtube videos while working on my King Liger redesign. I then decided to look for videos about Zoids, after all there are a ton of in-universe explanatory videos for franchises such as Star Trek, Star Wars, Halo...you get the picture. All sorts of videos regarding starships, and their capabilities, and events, etc.
Sure, there are a bunch of model kit reviews, and one content creator (Viseak) has a handful of explanatory videos, but that's it. Youtube comment creators can generate anywhere from hundreds to thousands of dollars a day, and I'm only working part-time, so I got this idea in my head that somebody needs to start creating content for Zoids outside of the random model reviews. Maybe they would be profitable, maybe not, but at least maybe more people would learn about how cool they are.
Why should I be the one to do this? After all, my collection is pretty spare (and dusty).
I've always been pretty good about doing research and such. I would even argue that I have a very vague game-plan. My first idea for content would be to focus on one Zoid for a video, with the content including the stats, using a background made in Photoshop (max speed, weight, etc). The second part would go into explanations regarding the equipment, and then cover color variants, maybe even use any backstories that I can come up with. For example, I can't prove that the Claw variation of Shield Liger are Shield Liger Commanders whose pilots have been feeding their Zoids Deocalcum in an attempt to be able to stand a chance against Zeekdobers, but it would explain the crazy neon green...
Finally, I would cover out of universe model kit variants (if they exist, such as Kotobukiya and MSS). Future videos would cover variants that use different parts, to cut down on time.
I think that it would be interesting to go into explanations speculating the purpose of weaponry, such as the shock cannon, which appears to utilize an explosive meant to throw smaller Zoids around like a ragdoll (assuming they aren't blown up outright), and knock larger Zoids off balance. Due to using physical ammunition, rather than energy, they also place less of a strain on the Zoid Core. Or that the reason that energy transfer conduits on the Double Beam Cannon run to a specialized weapons pack, rather than directly to the Zoid Core is because of the use of a fusion generator, again placing less stress on the Zoid Core. These are example of topics that would be covered in proposed videos for the Shield Liger and Shield Liger Mk-II.
Due to lacking most variants, most of the content would have to come from images and photos online. I would use my own model kits where possible of course. If I can generate money from this, then maybe that can go into compensating for this, and I can replace previous videos with those that use photos of my own models, so that I can contribute more visually on my own, or what I purchase next will determine future content.
I know that at least one member here posts their own content on Youtube (ZG Zoids), but the reason that I am posting this here is to ask: what sort of content do you think would be the most popular amongst Zoid fans? Does anyone else have experience with posting videos on Youtube, and navigating Copyright rules? Or should my first video be an explanatory video?
