TakaraTomy just announced an oddity in the Zoids Wild lineup, a Random Kit!Zoids Random Kit Vol. 1 will contain 1 random insect/arachnid small-size Zoid from the Zoids Wild lineup. There are 6 possible kits, all released in brand new colors, and you don't get to know which kit you're getting until your item arrives. The kit has already sold out in the few stores its surfaced in (that provide international shipping), so be wary of kits priced around $30! You're only getting 1 Zoid for that money, and those prices are scalpers who've already snatched up the kit. It also explains why they took so long. They had 6 different kits to finish before they could announce it! Was wondering about that.

Oh, that dark grey/red Gusock looks good. I guess I'll just steal that idea and repaint mine in those colors.
Also, Spideath in, well, almost OG empire colors is nice.

Haha, I saw these earlier and had no idea what they were-- I thought they were customs  Don't really like the blind box or blind bag method, but they seem neat enough. The empire colors do look good.

UGH! I like the design of these kits, but I HATE the random thing. The result of that at our local Walmart last night was clear; a dozen ripped open packages as kids dig for what they want. The idea of a "mystery toy" might be exciting on paper, but it is not practical.

Not too bad! if I was doing a little better financially, I would jump on that. but as it is I think I'll save up for however it ends up being possible to grab Xenorex and its lovely new stilts. Hopefully they keep doing good deals like this in the future. |

This really tickles the my collector's funny bone. I just love the idea of going to my local Walmart, picking up some groceries, and coming home with a random Zoid. "When did that crawl in my cart?!" Too bad I don't see Hasbro bringing these to the US any time soon. These are definitely random cheap purchases.
But I don't think that Takara Tomy is creative enough with this. These are Zoids. What is missing? I'll tell you what's missing! Guns! Missiles! Blades! Claws that can rip unwanted armor to shreds! This would be perfect if they also came with some random CPs to add to those lovely little mounting points that are crying out for weapons, even if it means reusing frames from the CP sets. This way, every box you purchase is practically unique, and you can mix and match as you collect. Or better yet, just create some new small arms. A machine gun here, a set of blades there, a missile pod...
And I agree with Maethius. Adult collectors are patient, and smart enough that if they don't like what they got, they'll find someone else online to trade with. Or build an unstoppable army of pillbug, spider, and my favorite: stag beetle androids. And you can even mix frames, to create a red and white, and a silver and blue Gusock for example!
Did I mention that I love the color choices? These look perfect to practice ink-washing and detailing!
Kids on the other hand can be impatient, undisciplined little you-know-whats. This random idea is totally going to end well, depending on who they are marketing this to. If it's to kids, well, I'm afraid this little line is going to go the way of the Transfighters.

This is very reminiscent of the Bakuten Shoot/Beyblade Random Vol. Boosters. Same with the old Zoids Custom Blox Series with Metal Hopper
