Kotobukiya has announced that they'll be releasing a brand new Saber Tiger "CA Color Version" at the upcoming Zoids Concept Art Exhibition! This Saber matches the beautiful red of the Saber Tiger in the Concept Art Books, and will feature certain sprues coming in duplicate colors, similar to how the Liger Zero Empire was handled. You can use these sprues to build a more traditional dark red Saber. This kit will have an early sale at the event (certain days only) and later on, a more public release through Kotobukiya's shops will follow. This should include Kotobukiya Direct, so you'll need a deputy service to order. Although it will include no decals, it'll be released at the same price point as the Saber Tiger Marking Plus Ver. (that's 6,000 Yen).

It is based on the original EPZ-003 Sabre Tiger from 1986. What does CA stand for?

I think CA means Concept Art.

I thought the EPZ-003 Sabre Tiger had a clear brown canopy, not a clear green canopy.

Whoa, it's like those painted parts on the limbs got to take over the whole body. Very cool look, would have been nice to see that in the final product back then. And that white horn...

It's not based on the OJR, so it shouldn't have a brown canopy. It's based on the Concept Art Books. There's a link in the opening post to what it is referencing.
A white (or Silver) horn would be amazing!
The color separation on this is nice, too. Even if they couldn't get it exact with the decals, I feel like it's still instantly recognizable if you've had a chance to read the books. It used to be back in Material Hunters, too.

But it also has enough parts to recreate the original OJR ST.

The note regarding Sabre Tiger is that the author of the blog thinks it's closer than the default HMM Saber, but it was never an intended theme. Just a happy coincidence~ They had to cast those sprues in multiple colors to create the CA version, but the red is its own unique color variant.

The mixture of red armor and black armor with the green canopy makes it look like a cross between the EPZ-003 Sabre Tiger, the EPZ-003 Great Sabre, and the EZ-016 Saber Tiger.

Is the pre-order date as well December ? The kit will be released at the Zoids Concept Art Exhibition. That event will take place from December 12 to January 24. The kit will be available as a Kotobukiya Shop exclusive at a later date. According to the blog, the EPZ-003 Saber Tiger CA Color Ver. will be available at the event on December 24.

According to the blog, the kit will be available on December 24th (Christmas Eve), not the start of the event.
