Holy cow Hanyoutai, thank you for pointing everything out and providing references! An awesome box art to be sure. I'm passing on this one, as ligers aren't my favorite Zoids and I still have the DCS-J to put together, but all these special touches really help differentiate these re-releases from the originals.

Can anyone confirm that this reissue came out with a new box art and clear parts?

That's correct. You can see pictures of it all in the LABO article~

It's a small thing I know, but my OCD-personality is weirded out by the fact that this is the 3rd HMM version of the blue Blade Liger with another different colour scheme than before! So here's a scan of the painting guide from the new one: In contrast the guide from the very first HMM BL was: And finally the Van version was: I'm just looking at the main body blue (though some of the greys etc. are different as well). So, although they've got broadly the same colours in there (mainly H35 and H15, which are Mr Hobby codes I believe) the mixing proportions are quite different. The anime one in particular is overall a noticeable darker shade of blue than the rest.
(as a side note, WTH with some of these numbers? How do you even measure 1% with paint?)
Does anybody know what the deal is here as to why Koto can't seem to make up their mind about the colour, since after all they ultimtely are each attempting to recreate the look of the original motorised version? And what as fans do we deem to be the definitive "Blade Liger Blue"?

The initial Blade Liger was their own spin on it, and wasn't specifically based on the moto's shade of blue. The Van was... well, fandom pandering.
The Blade Liger AB was decided for release because they realized that while there was an HMM-016 LIMITED (Van's Bladey) there wasn't actually an HMM-016. It was just an empty gap in the registration numbers. So they decided to gear it towards the old version/battle story, which seems to be the going trend right now for HMMs in general. I'd guess it's also more convenient for mass production than hemming and hawing about re-releasing your limited edition kits (all other AB Ligers are Limiteds).

Thanks, that makes some sense.
Mind you, what doesn't make any sense to me is Koto's numbering system for the HMMs. Sometimes new or limited versions of Zoids get new numbers and sometimes they don't. Like, the original BL was HMM-003, but then we also had the limited Leon and Mirage versions which were HMM-003-Limited, so why then did the Van version get a new number? Likewise, the Raven versions of Geno Saurer and Geno Breaker got new numbers even though they were basically just recolours. But Command Wolf Repackage Version is still HMM-002 even though it has different parts (the LC and AC sets). It's bafflingly inconsistent.

Gotta agree there. It drives me crazy from a list-making standpoint. Then for extra OCD funsies, there are kits that don't get a registration number at all, like the CAS Set Clear Ver., the Gojulas Cannon Set, etc.

If that’s the case then brads command wolf is a limited of its own number without a non limited version

The lack of an HMM-016 was a convenient excuse, but their bigger motivator was the lack of any standard release AB variant. For the Command Wolf Brad, there's not really any base Zoid to be had to fill that registration number. The Repackage covers everything it would've been.

I hope we get a Repackage of the Blade Liger AB Van/Bang Ver.

I hope we get a Repackage of the Blade Liger AB Van/Bang Ver. I'd love to see that too, as well as repackages for some other expensive kits. That said, I'm not sure they ever will. As far as I can tell none of the character specific kits have been re-released.

Leon also got a renewal, so odder things have happened.

Leon also got a renewal, so odder things have happened. I'd say there's potential for a Blade Liger AB Bang Ver. Repackage Ver. in the future. I want one so I can build Van's Blade Liger in the classic design without the Attack Boosters.
