Available here for iOS or here for Android. If you don't have either, you can use an Android emulator such as Bluestacks, but you'll need one that supports Android 5+ (Bluestacks 3 doesn't, but 3N does). You'll also need a Japanese app/play store account to download the app - you could try downloading the APK from a third-party site instead, but I ran into an anti-piracy lock when I did so.
The app is divided into three functions: "assembly support", which is just a list of links to these videos, "ZFX", which allows you to add various graphical effects to your photos and videos (although I haven't managed to get it working on Bluestacks yet), and a "battle simulation game", which is the main focus of this post.
The game is set in Taiju ("Big Tree") Forest on the eastern side of the Wild Continent. The Death Metal Empire continues to spread across the continent, despite resistance from various small organisations or "Teams" of Zoid Hunters (humans who have formed a bond with a Zoid). Emperor Gallagher's elite guard unit "Hard Rock" has captured most of Taiju Forest west of Ryoudan ("Bisecting") River, but the east side remains free due to the valiant efforts of Team Liquid. You play as Team Liquid's new commander (having been promoted the fastest of anyone in the team), and are given an introduction/tutorial by a female team member called Aqua.
Gameplay-wise, you work your way through a list of missions, which are divided into two types: "normal" and "battle". Normal missions simply involve choosing which Zoids to send out, then waiting a set amount of time for them to return (this time can be shortened by watching ads or spending Zoid Diamonds, the paid currency). In battle missions, you choose which Zoid to attack with (certain types of Zoid do extra damage against others, as shown by the multicoloured triangle in the middle of the screen) and tap rapidly to charge it up with "magirenaline". If you max this out, it will trigger the Zoid's Wild Blast for extra damage. After finishing a battle mission, any Zoids that took part will need to be repaired, which takes place automatically over time (again, you can shorten this via ads or Zoid Diamonds). Completing missions will reward you with Zoid Diamonds (the first time around), fossils and "Zeni". Once you have enough fossils of the right type, you can combine them (and spend a certain amount of Zeni) to reconstruct a Zoid and add it to your team.
In the store, you can spend money on Zoid Diamonds (approximately 1 yen per diamond, but cheaper/pricier for larger/smaller amounts) or spend diamonds on Zeni (approximately 20 Zeni per diamond). There's also a database, where you can view stats and info for Zoids you own, and an options screen, which includes a few links and toggle switches for music/sfx/notifications... and that's pretty much it. Certainly not a complex game, but hey, at least it's something.
