Picture wise that was it for now. Also you can see what I meant with that "glitter" mixed into the blacks and greys. I still don't really know if I like it.. It's not as bad in hand as I thought, but I don't really see the added value over regular black and grey. Oh and one to show the difference in color for the caps. On the left the brighter green Scorpear caps and on the right the darker green Kabtor caps.

Final verdict on Kabtor, well I actually liked the design. Yes it's kind of a rehash of Saicurtis, but it works fine I guess for a smaller sized Zoid. Color wise depends on what you think suits this beetle. The movement is pretty okay I guess, with the "tusk" going up and down and the jerky walking (nothing new there)
BUT again that curse.. It kind of walks on a really really flat surface, if you're lucky. Might just be mine AGAIN.. but he walks fine in the air, but unless you wind him up really tight (would not advise to do so, you know, for the coil in the wind-up part) he sometimes needs a nudge... It might be the wind-up curse nudge thing, but again unlike in the TT video where it seems he just goes on forever, no he does not.
All in all a bit better than dancing Scorpy I guess.
And with this (because I really have to make myself wait with doing Gabrigator, because of the order I want to build them in) I will leave you for now But with some really really nice custom colors I found on the web, that do show the potential in a lot of Zoids in this series. Some of those paintjobs really make features or details stand out (even more than the standard colors)
And with 2 out of 6 checked and built, I am still kind of on the fence quality wise, but design wise there are some really nice ones either available or coming out soon. (So let's see what round 3 of reviewing these will do to my opinion regarding the issues, criticism and such that I wrote in the first post) Attachments:

Very nicely done on the bone like version, the green is much more croc, the metallic purple just looks right and the one with the extra piece in front of the eye is really well thought of. Nice to see people making such customs.

Since the pieces are pre-cut off the sprue, did they makers do a good job of filing the plastic bits down?

nice reviews. OT:I saw a white kabtor on mercari japan and I was wondering if someone knows anything about it or how do people get their hands on it. Thanks Well the white Kabtor was given to elementary school kids (and younger) at the World Hobby Fair in Japan past weekend. But I am afraid you will have to import it yourself through one of those websites from someone who is willing to sell it..
(I have actually been trying to do something for the members on this forum, but TakaraTomy did not feel like answering any of my Japanese messages..)

Thanks for the info, yup after some more research it was indeed released during the world hobby fair, and surprisingly saw it on sale for 100k yen though i think its a typo on the sellers part lol

Wow, you've got some great details in there! I'm really liking the new models as I see them up close; it doesn't seem that that converting them to 1:72 will always be very easy, but it sure seems it will be worth it!

I was thinking making them bigger instead because converting them from 1:35 to 1:72 means you have to make them smaller hence it will be more difficult well for me that is. but of course if i will make them bigger it means bigger pilots or rather riders on this case that is if I want to retain the "wild" theme due to the absence of a cockpit.

Tomorrow the rest will arrive, so next up will be Wild Liger. And I guess they fit the 1/72 pretty well for now (size wise), but the riders make it seem weird. If you take away the rider they fit somewhat better. I will try some more comparison pics when I build the others

So somewhere today this will happen. In that order Liger, Gannon, Gabri and Gil. The FRS effect and CoroCoro were the other things that arrived today and a MSS Godos (won't be in the review, but nice added effects for Bandai DBZ FRS)
So next up will be Liger as soon as he's finished and photographed (writing the reviews takes more time than building the kits..) Attachments:

Thanks for these reviews! I really was curious and had to know what these would be like. Definitely not getting them, but at least now I'm caught up. I thought we WERE getting custom pilot figures of each character. So weird! Given their disparate proportions, these are sure to look bizarre with a little standardized guy. And I didn't realize they didn't have any guns at all!

You're very welcome. I am still kind of on the fence myself (I do like them, but well you read the reviews so you know what I mean Indeed having a hard time with the riders, would indeed be different if they had the the actual pilots. And the no guns is not what we are used to, but can be easily fixed (just load them up) You might change your mind in the long run, because well they are new Zoids and there are some cool designs coming up from what I've seen so far.

Review Part 3: Wild Liger
Well first the parts again (didn't really want to do that again, because it's kind of the same story, but for those who like to see them, here they are). And the bone mode. And there you can see more closely what I meant with the glitter like plastic. This one has a lot of black and you can really see that it's not your regular black.
MAYBE it's because of the different feel I talked about earlier (the "softer" plastic). If that would be a new formula because of breaking issues that could be a good thing. I have the feeling they tried to change the plastic formula, because not only the black has those "sparkles" but the white and blue too. You can see that in close-up pictures coming up. Aesthetically or preference wise I am not too fond of that glitter but again if it's because of "better plastic" it could be okay in the long run. Only time will tell. But looks wise I am not really fond of it.
Almost forgot.. This kit took about 45 minutes, I took my time, just to see all the mechanics and I am used to building much much longer than 45 minutes, so I wasn't in a rush. I think if you just do only what the manual says it would be finished much faster. (And you can again add another (in this case) 30 minutes extra because I wanted to check all the parts for sprue marks.)
On that subject, again most parts only have 1 sprue mark, most of them actually relatively clean, but the ones that are the most visible, sadly enough are often on parts you see. With this model it's on the gold mane thingy below the head and the blue mane "ears" thing above his head.. That is indeed why I stated that earlier, I am not that fond of the pre-cut thing. And again you can't do much about those marks either. Maybe it depends per kit, but I only have one Liger so I can't check that.
