I got into the franchise when Hasbro first released their New American Release line in the early 2000's.

I was bribed.
No, really.
My brother bribed me to do his paper route back in 1984. For every week I did the route I earned a windup, and for every month after those ran out I got a power Zoid, ending in Zrk. After that it was a rare find hunt at collector stores until the re-release.

The tv was just on in the lounge room before school one day back in 2001 or 2002 something like that. Was just watching whatever was on and it was zoids chaotic century episode 5. I remember it because shield liger was walking with a damaged leg. I was never the same again.

Started with New Century Zero, plus i was already building Gundams and other scale model projects and pretty much saw Zoids as a new challenge that had an actual motor. Immediately hooked.

I first saw a commercial for Techno-Zoids and thought it was the coolest thing I'd ever seen. But I didn't expect to get any. Then my grampa sent me one (I don't recall telling anyone, so he must have just guessed. he's an engineer so it's up his alley). Unfortunately, I was 8, so I needed help and it did not really last intact for long. Then when the new stuff came out I was like hell yes, I'm a teenager now, I can build this!

I watched New Century Zero as a child and bought a few Hasbro kits but they were lost in moves. Back then I had seen the chrome Lizer CAS units and somehow they re-entered my head in 2011 so I began googling and stumbled upon the ebay market, here and Zoidspoison. And oh man was I poisoned. Came back with a vengeance.

My friend kept showing me her Zoids stuff but I never really cared for it until two years ago I randomly encountered my Zoid OC. That made me finally watch CC and utterly fall in love with Zoids~

There was this toy store in a shopping mall I always walked through on my way to the orthodontist when I was maybe six or seven. This was in the OER days, so I guess 83 or 84. It was pretty much love at first sight. To this day, I remember they had an entire shelf of Zoids there and a big display on the top shelf with built versions of Zoidzilla and Mammoth, maybe also Gorgon. My parents HATED Zoids, so I always had to save up my second grader's pocket money for weeks and weeks and then wait until the next time I had an orthodontist's appointment to maybe pick up a windup Zoid.
And then after maybe two years at the most, they disappeared from Switzerland's shelves again. The last wave we got was the one that included Zabre, or at least I had toy catalogs with those ones in them, and then one day, poof, gone. And I lost all my Zoids I had as a child for reasons unknown. I'm guessing my mom threw them away when she thought I wouldn't miss them.
Then one day in the late 90s, I remembered Zoids and googled them for some reason, and I came across Jerry Dreiss' website where he had posted the news of the NJR. I'm pretty sure I ordered a Gojulas, Rev Raptor, Red Horn and Hel Digunner from Amenbo that same night. And I've been collecting ever since.

I was a Toonami faithful since the old days of Beast Wars, Gundam, DBZ, Sailor Moon and the like. Around third grade or so, in 2001, I came home one day and decided to tune in earlier than usual and saw an episode of New Century/Zero, somewhere in the middle. Fell in love near-instantly, I think I asked my dad to get me the yellow Zaber Fang the next day. It was easily my favorite thing to ever air on the original Toonami, although admittedly I started to fall out of it around CC.

Back in 2001 when Hasbro launched Zoids is what got me. I had seen them in the toy aisles at the stores, but wasn’t interested until one day after school (4th grade!) I was watching Toonami earlier than usual and caught the middle of some random NC/0 episode. I was immediately hooked and that weekend when we went shopping I used the money I had been saving for some Bionicles and got a Liger Zero model kit. I loved building it and the engineering behind the movements of it, and after that was hooked on getting as many as I could. I was a huge fan of building/engineering toys at the time (Lego, Bionicles, KNEX, Erector) and Zoids was perfect mix of SciFi/Story/Building toys.

My first Zoid was back in 1986 when I got a Power Serpent. It spent several years as an alternate human bad guy for Transformers. Once I was an adult, I ran into some Technozoids in a shop and snatched up a Battlesaurus for fun. I have since lost all of that between moves and a fire. I really came into them after the wife and I were settled in a regular routine of job, watch some TV, go to sleep, rinse, repeat. I needed something to curb my nerd adventure imagination when I ran across an anime shop online with the new Zoids from the NJR. I got hit by the nostalgia bug and ordered a Deathsaurer. That was it. I have been collecting, building, and customizing since. Hard to believe I still enjoy toys so much into my mid 40's!

It was a little before my birthday maybe late 90s early 2000s? And my grandmother took me to toys r us to pick out my own toy, me liking boy stuff more than girl stuff had me going to the boys side which had most of the LEGO’s and that’s when they had the whole half the isle all the way to the top with just zoids and that’s when I spotted the command wolf and saber fang, because it was a wolf and saber tooth tiger which were my favorite animals. So I ended up picking up the saber, got home and me and grandma realized it was a model, so she built it for me. The very next day when I got home from school it was raining so I had to stay inside so turned on the cartoons and there before me stood my yellow tigers team saber, episode 1 of new century, sat down and watched it and feel in love ever since. Grandma had to build them for me for about a year more before I got the hang of them

Okay so I feel old now because I see a lot of stories starting in the late 90's or after 2000. But for me it all started with this. There was this ad in the Dutch Donald Duck in 1985 "Voted best toys for the year 1985" (by the way if anyone wants a translation, I could do that I guess, probably sounds very weird in Dutch Man I was in love. Animals, dinosaurs but robot versions!!! AAAHH... There was this little shop near my grandma and they had Krark... Oh how I wanted that one... I was 4 that year and I got my first one; Cosmozoid (yeah Europe so that name) and Christmas after that I got Kroc and for my birthday I got Scorpozoid. Cosmo went everywhere (so of course he died somewhere along the way, I did buy a new one a few years ago, as mine was glued and battered and now completely wrecked, but I do still have him for nostalgic value, even though he's broken. Well so yeah I've always liked them, got an Empire tattoo back when I was 20. So I've been there almost since the beginning (got distracted by some other stuff after Genesis, but have always liked and loved my Zoids, longest running and best hobby! Attachments:

And the ad that did it all (still have those pages) Wow first of all thanks that you share these cool pics and memories! Und Zoids Werbung auf holländisch, wie cool!!! I saw my first Zoid in the 80‘s during holidays in some little mountains near hannover in germany where we had a camper. I got this trooper zoid and got into this combination of building playing and functional movement. I began to collect more zoids must be about ten or twelve including these big gger ones Gore, ZRK and Redhorn.
