So, I want to customize my HMM Liger Zero to resemble my character's. That wouldn't be that much of an issue considering it's the stock color scheme, but the devil is in the details: His Zoid has green optics.
The easiest route would be to get the optics from an HMM Zero Empire, but give as that is a limited kit, unless someone cannibalized one for a custom, I don't see anyone parting with a piece of one.
I could just paint them solid green and be done with it, but I would like them to still be translucent. I've seen someone make custom resin/epoxy claws and teeth for the Zero that are translucent, but not eyes. That, and I'm not sure how I'd do this myself.
So I guess my question is: are these my only options? How would I learn to make resin/epoxy parts? Does anyone have any other ideas?

For the most part. A cheap option that might have shoddy results, but is practically free to try would be to get any kind of craft clay and press the eyes into it to make a mold. Then fill the mold with any number of clear products, such as elmers glue (which depending on the weather dries clear or cloudy), liquid acrylic, etc. It won't be perfect but for a cheap option, for such a small detail that won't be super visible it might be worth a shot.
While it's not for sale right now, and may still be very expensive, you can also keep an eye out for the HMM Liger Zero Customize Parts box. This includes transparent, colorless eyes, black chrome boosters/etc., and all of the Zero CPs that were released separately.

Molding is kind of clever. I would suggest trying clear caulk, it dried nice and clear though it stays rubbery, that might actually help Alternatively depending on how good you are on a tiny scale, I've used thinner plastic before to replace optics. Obviously it's more flimsy, but once you cut the right size and glue it into place, you won't be able to tell by looking

All things to consider, except the Customize Box, which is $200.
I have expoxy in the house already, may try that and go from there. I've already done some digging on pigments, though not sure if I should do that or use the translucent spray paint we found at Michaels

If you have the ability, another option would be resin casting. If you are open to some trimming, get your mits on a plastic bottle or box of some kind. If you find durable, clear plastic, you can paint it any color.

I've always had good results with clear paints, but Maethius is right, a 7UP bottle would probably be just what the doctor ordered
