That is a VERY different kind of model kit! The scale makes the paint look much more realistic (heavy and thick, peeling, with weight). I really like how unique this kit is, despite its simplicity of design.

Yeah, it was kind of a coincidence that I had this 1/35th scale Ma.K figure lying around, but I really thought it would be great to convey the scale of the kit. It's a simple mind trick, but it works wonders.

Apparently I'm doing Maschinen Krieger now. That's great, because after discovering Warhammer, I really felt like I needed another thing to spend too much money on. New Post

Great stuff on this post! I really love seeing how you did some of the details to make parts that would ordinarily look bland appear far more interesting. The coil springs look awesome! I really need to get more of those for my customs; they would solve a lot of problems in articulated kits. I really love the whole base; the blend of parts looks really great and makes you wonder what exactly it used to be. Wonderful work!

Oh yeah, those coil springs are an absolute must for my supplies stockpile. Now that I think about it, the first modification I ever made to anything was probably replacing the rubber tubes on a Heldigunner with coil springs because they kept breaking.

I think I've seen them on eBay... where do you get them?

I get mine from HLJ - they're from Wave and alled "A-Spring", you can get them at a lot of different sizes.

Thank you very much! I've seen the detail bits kits from Wave as well (Like the Koto MSG kits) but didn't know they made the springs.

Blog post with pictures soon, but for now, here's this... I thought I should make something fun for people to watch while they're trapped at home, and I couldn't really think of much else than a tribute video to my favorite Zoid of all time.

Such a great kit! It had so many fun, small details in it. I suspect that the HMM version would qualify as a coffee table. ^_^ Thanks for the review!

I think if they ever make an HMM Madthunder I might literally die.

Whoa this is a really special video-- maybe one of a kind! Thanks for documenting the whole build. Madthunder is one of the greats for sure. I've never put one together, but seeing yours makes me want to save up the $350 or so that they seem to sell for these days. If only it had been included in the Rebirth line too...

I am halfway through your madthunder unboxing at 2x speed. I plan on finishing it in the morning.
I just wanted to say thank you.
This and Ultrasaurus were zoids I should have bought in 2009 when they were still somewhat avaliable. If Zoids ever has a legacy event like Original and ends up re-releasing those 2 kits, I will pre-order them in a heartbeat
Thank you for making my quarintine a bit nicer. This video is truly special.

Nice job! The weathering looks top notch, and I like the choices you made on which parts to paint as metallics and flats. The red accents look sharp too, as do the glossy red "glass" parts. A really cool shot you took at the top too, comparing the original with your HMM.
