Looking at the original TOMY kit, I only see 2 red parts on the Liger Zero X. Was it really worth it to include all those extra frames??? Looking at the original EM in comparison to the HMM, I like the HMM more; the black boosters don't really do anything for me.

I would have to see them side by side, really. I usually find aspects of the HMM kits superior to the original designs, but I often like the silhouettes of the originals better.

Okay, so... if I'm understanding this.. the original concept art for the EM had red boosters, but they changed them in the original kit, but NOT for mold reasons because the boosters are on their own sprue (really?) and there aren't any other major issues with color changes, but if there were, you could fix THOSE with the extra sprues they included. but not this one, the one that kind of matters in any case I don't think the red parts visible on the X were a priority reason for the extra sprues, but it is nice that they fixed those. They weren't necessary or prominent on the regular EM anyway, one was a shell-hold-together-clamp (love those. brilliant. stable but easily disassemblable) and one was just the tail tip which is mostly covered by the gun anyway

The motorized kit had its own booster sprue, the HMM does not. Its booster covers are mixed in with the leg armor and such.
The concept art spoken of is referring to the new HMM concept art, where the boosters are red, not art for the motorized kit.
Since the HMM booster covers are mixed in with the leg armors, you'd have to cast in 3 colors to make them black (red-gold-black.) The concept artist or their art director likely foresaw the casting problems and asked for the boosters to be red. Or maybe they just thought it was more fitting. Either way, it's unfortunately unlikely that they'll be black.
As for whether or not it's worth all the extra parts, Zoids has heavily relied in recolors for most of its life, even while producing brand new creations. With that mentality already instilled in the fanbase, it's likely a good business decision to make people want to buy extras. I did. Because I love gold and marbling, but was also in love with the Empire colors. They even admit on their blog that they don't recommend an all-gold liger, and the marbling will probably bug a lot of people.
I also mispoke in an earlier post because I got the motorized/HMM mixed up. The HMM boosters should match its armor. But neither armor is black, so there won't be black boosters, most likely. Unless they surprise us.

Ahhh I think I get it now. Thanks for clearing all that up. I think that this is going to bite them a few more times though if they continue to try doing recolors in HMM, though I actually can't think of another one that changes in this particular way...

If Kotobukiya is going to make a Liger Zero Empire Custom, they need to make a Liger Zero X.

I imagine, since it is just another CAS based on a kit they already produce, that we will see that next. THAT would be a LZ kit I would love to own!

Here we go~ I am disappointed though. It has an interesting setting and atmosphere, but it is a direct edit of the Clear CAS art. I was hoping for more considering its a whole kit that's Kotobukiya Direct. Even the basic CAS get their own art, even if it's simple.

Is that a error in the image? The shoulder piece looks blue like normal zero instead of the silver

I think it's just the cooler toned filters that are applied on the image, making it look blue so it can unify the colors. If it were all grayscale, it'd be very distracting and out of place, making you look at the shoulder specifically instead of the face.

It feels a lot less busy than its' predecessor.
