Post your latest builds of official kits here! Feel free to drop in tidbits of advice and experiences with your builds as well (cool details, weak plastic, cool stories about how/where you acquired them, etc)!
Thanks, folks!

Well I'm finding it more easy going to do the Death Stinger's 8 legs one section at a time in between other body parts so I won't get left with all the repetitive stuff to do in one go.

That's a good methodology; I should have spaced it out as well. Ah well, it's still good in the end. Sometimes it's just nice to turn off your brain and practice some of the more mundane aspects of life, such as following repetitive instructions when building.

Nice, would like to see the "lava" detailing you go for.
I'm still working on that Shield Liger HMM whenever I get free time. Wanna keep it the original blue color, but I have no idea what kind of detailing I'll add.

Wanna keep it the original blue color, but I have no idea what kind of detailing I'll add. I just select a different colour for different types of parts to keep a theme and continuity going, keep all the hoses one colour, the pistons another, round greebles to match the polycaps colour etc.. You could always just google custom pics of it to get ideas too.

Whoa, lava detailing? You just gave me the best idea.. if I was better at painting.. can you imagine doing something equivalent to a "Dark Zoid" but with glowing orange in place of the green... and maybe even some little cracks of orange on the armor, maybe radiating from dark red caps... maybe this isn't actually my creativity, maybe I just remember something

I could see that looking like The Warrior from Borderlands! Bonus if you find glow in the dark paint or parts.
Personally what I wanna do is redo a Zaber in realistic tiger stripes. I already made a stencil for it out of old plastic school folders but I don't have a Zaber yet, lol

Yeah I don't know any glow in the dark paint that isn't green, but it probably exists. Oh don't do that, a saber tiger is a smilodon. Make it either a rayse tiger/soul tiger or a whitz tiger! Those would look gorgeous in realistic tiger stripes

They sell many colours of glow in the dark paint on eBay, look for rave paint. They also sell it in a powder form to be mixed with acrylic paint for example or used in resin casting. I've done both with the powder.

wish I'd known that back in the day, I tried just applying a thin layer of standard glow in the dark paint to my non-glowing-parts dark horn.. the results were poor. I really thought that pale off-whitey green was the only color it could come in, hence Bio Raptor Glearmd being that color. Well now I have a real hankering to make lava zoids but I have no money or time and my near-vision has grown very poor

You could get or make a magnifying lens on a stand. Don't waste your money on a jeweller's optic, they're useless for this kind of work, you can get the modelling combination stand, lens, crocodile clips on adjustable arms super cheap as a unit.

Disclaimer first: I don't even mind off-topic. Having said that, i think it's hilarious that the previous thread got closed for too much off-topic, and the new thread is 11 replies in without a single pic of a build

That's true. Let's keep this thread about BUILDS... techniques for customizing can be posted here: Customized Zoids

Not pics of a finished build or even pics of an on going build (actually the HMM Lighning Saix and HMM Death Stinger are both newly completed builds but not finished i.e. no detailing, weathering, paint or dios done yet, so I guess they count! even if they're only being used for size comparison ). My HMM Iron Kong PK 1/75 version just arrived YAY!! You got to know you're in trouble when a super complicated high-end model kit needs it's own suitcase complete with reinforced plastic carry handle! . Boy this is going to be an extensive build especially as I plan to do a bit of custom work on it as I really wanted the Schwartz version but it was twice the price! . But aside from the Vulcan cannon (which I actually have a 1/6 silver version of that will be fab on this build) missing, this kit comes with an overkill of weaponry and extras like jet packs, loads of ammunition carrying chutes (the correct name for belt ammunition guides), STA rockets and missiles etc..
This is the smallest panel of the box! You could fit 3 or 4 HMM Lightning Saix on it!
Yup, that's the HMM Death Stinger on the smallest box panel!
Here are some lazy pics of my latest completed but unfinished HMM kits by themselves (I'm in the middle of building a custom 1/6 War Machine MKIII with my own designed "Anti-Falcon" accessories that you can see on the left there):
