Not to be pessimistic but I would rather see Zoids stay dead than have over hyped projects that amount to nothing.
Granted, maybe TT is trying to garner interest for future Zoids projects. But all things considered, this is probably just a cash grab for a mostly retired IP and it won't go far.
EDIT: Oh my gosh that trailer is awful.
Like maybe this MOBA could have been ok but this type of trailer screams to me "lets not show anything substantial and shake the camera a lot when gameplay visuals come up so no one realizes how bad this is going to be."

Called it, but rather sad about it. On the plus side, Tactics and FMC are my favorite Zoids games so I'm looking forward to this more than I did the other mobile games. The down side is that the art will be a let down. Very sketchy / lazy style, unless they'll be refined for the actual game. The models are also the same low quality ones we typically see. Which isn't surprising for a mobile game, you gotta watch file sizes and all that, but I'm surprised they didn't try to make them look more HMMified.

Online hype is easy to create, and it generates expectations that are easy to disappoint.
Its been that kind of a year, I suppose.

The video trailer is worthless... the screenshots on the other hand are more useful. Certainly a total different type of game than the last one. Although tactical stuff tends to fail less I'm reluctant. I doubt it can keep up with something like Super Robot Taisen Operation Extend (the one which had Zoids characters in it).

Just Trying to figure out if to Register via twitter, all I need to do is follow that account? Or do they want the email registration too via the website which is not currently working properly..? Edit: The TakaraTomy website is working good now! Yep, following that Twitter account automatically counts as preregistration. Still no luck with the email preregistration/beta signup links, though - in fact, nothing on the entire takaratomyfans.com domain will load for me. I wonder if it's region-locked? ...Okay, even on Google Cache and the Web Archive, every link I try gives me one error or another. Definitely feeling like some sort of lockout. It's mostly a shame how unlikely this is to ever get any sort of translation, IMO. I'm still planning to post translations if I can get access to the game. I doubt it'll have much of a story, but I could be surprised - after all, Bonds of Steel turned out to have a decent one. Called it, but rather sad about it. If you mean the character pics, the Dengeki article says those are just design sketches. It's also not the complete character roster - I slowed down the trailer to get a better look at the silhouettes, and there's at least ten of them. As for the Zoid models, I wouldn't be surprised if Eighting is saving time by reusing models from Struggle/FMC and... Hmmm, I thought they were involved in some other Zoids games too, but apparently Shoeisha did all the other NGC/PS2/360 games. Never mind then. And yeah, it looks like Eighting's going for the TT aesthetic rather than HMM (although the Animareal pics are definitely HMM-based, if you look at those Molgas).

Time for Falcarius to sign up for Twitter? I really really hope we are not locked out again, even though there's usually a way around it. Like , when you think about it, an online multiplayer zoids battle battle game is a dream come true for zoid fans. It's a first, And very exciting. I have always wanted this. Also, If we can play it via blue stacks etc on the computer like we could with Material Hunters then hey presto it's no longer just a mobile zoids game.

I would be surprised if it really is real-time. We are talking here about mobile game, not PC or console game.

Yeah, almost all mobile games use bots that, at the height of their AI just draw from player accounts for assets (bases, Zoids, whatnot.) It most likely won't include live battles between players, but may be programmed to 'feel' like it.
In other news, they're no longer punching the main site in the throat and everything is working. Looks like they've got a twitter feed there, the links for the beta application, the pre-registration stretch goals, and a daily 5000 yen gift certificate raffle for people who retweet their official twitter posts tagged as #ZOIDSギフト券プレゼント.
The Gift Certificate is 5000 yen for iTunes or Google Card.

I haven't played any MOBAs (mobile or otherwise), but from the descriptions I've seen, "player vs player" seems like a key element of the genre. Oh, and those preregistration and beta application links are indeed IP-locked, but there are ways around that If you're trying to sign up for the beta, it will ask you what model of phone you're using - I picked "other" and typed in "Bluestacks (Windows 7)", just to see if they'll accept it.

Most games that say "Take up arms against other players!" etc. aren't actually Live PvP. Some are, I imagine, but I haven't played any myself. Most of the time they just mean "Our bots will use this person's avatar and assets." Some games even get rather fishy where you'll frequently come across assets that aren't released to the general public in PvP. Eventually you'll notice patterns in game play that'd be impossible to replicate in a real PVP environment (not everyone will play the exact same way in real PVP.)
Just to confirm, do you follow the Zoids Info or Zoids PR twitter to register? I wonder if this means they'll just send a registration code to all twitter accounts that follow them, or?

We now have actual gameplay footage! It's not much, and it's not necessarily the final version of the game, but at least it's something. (And I probably should have replied earlier, but it's the Zoids PR account that you have to follow.) Zoids seen so far: NJR-style Shield Liger, Gordos, Godos, Iron Kong, Geno Saurer, and Molga (from the gameplay footage) Command Wolf, Red Horn, Saber Tiger, and Death Saurer (from the trailer and in-game pictures) Concept Art-style Shield Liger, Pteras, Barigator (I think), Gustav, and a weird turret thing (from a couple of concept/design pictures)

I like it quite a bit, though I was surprised to see the chaotic cluster of scrambling Zoids. I was expecting a battlefield movement similar to strategy games where you move players across little blocks on the battlefield.
This is a lot more dynamic looking, and it appears that you have way more options than I would've ever expected from a mobile game. For example, having charge attacks on top of several different weapon options. The extra weapons don't appear to just be for show either. Shield Liger uses 3 different attacks in that video, and looks to have at least 4.
Weapons also each have their own ammunition and level.
Looks interesting, and I hope it's indicative of how detailed the final version will be! Dynamic battle is 10x more than I was expecting. We can't get any worse than Bonds of Steel's battle system.
