User-run Roleplaying sub-board for the forums?

I know one run by Pheno is out of the question, period, end of story.
But what about a sub-forum, where each game's GM has one or two threads, and rules are determined by that thread's GM? (In addition to the standard rules that a roleplaying forum would have.)
Not every zoid RP is going to cater to everyone, especially in cases where most zoid RPs are either clash of the titans level battles, or so complicated you'd need to dedicate weeks of your life just integrating yourself, let alone building the zoid you want. Some people will want something closer to the battle story, some people will want something set in the Genesis timeline, some will want their own universe that integrates everything, as well as allowing customs or not, whether you have a starter zoid, or start with a character with a bit more experience, or have to build up from scratch, etc. ... This way, people can start their own small-scale RPs, balance them the way they want, and see if anyone else is interested.
There will obviously need to be moderators to assist when players become problematic, but most rule callings would be up to an individual thread's GM's discretion, based on their own RP's mechanics.
It's not a perfect system, but overall, I feel like it would help the zoids community get a little closer. Hell, I met my wife and some of the best friends I'll ever know through roleplaying on a forum like this. The communities like the one I set up below tend to self-govern, and moderators rarely have to get involved except to close and archive dead/finished threads.
Potential Subforums for the RP forum:
- Battles
--1v1 (1 Roleplayer vs 1 Roleplayer, but can still be on the scale of armies.)
--Team Matches (Multiple roleplayers, divided up into factions, battling for supremacy for themselves, or their teams)
-- Tournament (Whether 1v1 or team, all tournament style straight up brawls would go here.)
- Stories (For RPs driven by story, characters, and plot, generally the longest-running if done well)
-- (Sub-forums may be created to divide up the eras/settings, so that someone looking for something in a New Century Zero style tournament story doesn't have to sift through warzones or slice-of-zoidian-life RPs. Speaking of...)
- The Malted Malder (Slice of life goes here - also a good place for one big in-character bar, so people can test out their character's personalities, see if they like actually playing them or not. No brawls, no mechs (except the ones parked outside), just a place to interact, in and out of character. OOC question threads could go in this subforum as well.)
- The Archive (Old, closed threads that GMs and mods agree are worth keeping around. Mod-organized tournaments, extremely long-running RPs, and such like that. Smaller threads could be archived on request, or be deleted if the thread was simply abandoned, I suppose.)
With all of that said, I hope this will at least be taken under consideration, since as far as I could tell, the main issue was that Pheno didn't want to run one himself, and this takes the pressure off him as far as that is concerned. Worst case scenario, one or two extra mods will need to be appointed to the forum if it gets annoying to handle with the current staff, but I honestly think that this could benefit the site, and the community. It may even inject extra life into the customs scene, as several RPers will want figures of their main zoid, and even their pilots. Especially if they create a new zoid concept from scratch for their RP.
