Just speculation...but it looks as if the MP Shield Liger's armorless body could also be the body for a Masterpiece Saber Tiger/Zaber Fang in the future.

It certainly does look like they have left that possibility open.

Looks like the Liger will come with two gold pilot figures, and is confirmed to indeed be a two seater.

They're also giving away special stickers to their Twitter followers during the Shizuoka Hobby Show this weekend, and this tweet confirms (despite the photos) that "everything apart from the gearbox is assembled from the sprues".

In the link to the twitter page, a twitter user seems to be asking if the head and legs require assembly as well. I can't make out the Zoids' Twitter account reply.
おっしゃる通り、頭部と脚部も組み立て式となります。ライガーゼロを彷彿とさせますね(*^^*)どうぞ宜しくお願い致します

Rough translation using Google gave me this:
Sounds like you just slap parts on and don't build it to me.

Rough translation using Google gave me this: Sounds like you just slap parts on and don't build it to me. And this is why you shouldn't always trust machine translation The fan asked whether the head and legs would be construction-style "like their [TakaraTomy's] Liger Zero", and the Zoids Info account responded with: "As you have said, the head and legs are construction-style too. It is quite similar to Liger Zero (*^^*) Thank you for your time." The main issue is their use of the phrase "組み立て式", which usually implies that you do the construction yourself, but is also used in "prefabricated house" (組み立て式住宅)... so guess which word Google picks The context, though, makes it very clear that the Liger is not prebuilt. The 11 parts sprues plus separate caps and springs should also be a giveaway >_>

Haha, I don't usually trust what it says but that different phrasing that Google chose changed the entire context. Good to see it's a built kit!

For the look, they just base on the old/existing parts, and make some new parts to replace the old parts, then there will have a brand new Zoids. (just like Saber Tiger and Shield Liger, or even better sample - Shield Liger to Blade Liger). Looks like you called it! This magazine scan seems to show that they may be making a Saber Tiger as well.
