I have to admit, when I saw this on its own I was VERY impressed. When I compared it to the side-by-side photo of the original, I pretty much wrote it off. It was very strange, like a different Kotobukiya made the kit. They sapped an enormous amount of details from it (as opposed to the HMM treatment, which usually CREATES details where there were none before!) They got rid of the robust look and trimmed it more into a typical Gundam style. Side by side, it was an enormous disappointment.

Now, they did a really good job translating that kit! It doesn't have "skinny Gundam syndrome" and looks tough as nails.

But I think it is quite expensive. I don't know how big/tall it really is.

Do we still get a discount at Toy-wave?

Oh, that's a good question! I hadn't thought of them in a long time....

...it's just occured to me that I never posted that I'd gotten an HMM Z-Knight.
After putting it together the first thing I realized is that it is solid as a rock. Like... no kotobukiya kit I've built... hell, no BANDAI kit I've built is as solid. I honestly think I could throw him across the room and not break a single thing.

You have no idea how appealing that is.

It's a REALLY lovely kit if you don't mind the more Gundam-inspired proportions. It is also not as complex as many HMMs.

Sounds like a nice change from the 2,402 pieces that SHOULD be only 100 pieces, all competing with each other on how quickly to eject from the frame if you think of moving the kit at all.

Be that as it may I've never been actually disappointed in any HMMs I've had prior, but I'm certainly looking forward to the Marinekaizer now, thanks to how great the Z-Knight himself is.
