Heheh, looks like the new Gundam series is a boy's version of Angelic Layer. I can only imagine what's going through the minds of fans who threw a fit when Gundam AGE was announced. Anywho, this should be entertaining. I wonder if the new models will have pegs that are more compatible with zoids ^_^ youtu.be/tGA_xKm95zg

Honestly, it shouldn't be that bad. People condemn AGE mostly because the main character's a kid, but the story is actually better than SEED and SEED Destiny.
Even so, I wouldn't buy one of these kits. They need to produce more MGs, not cheap, plastic mash-ups.

screw MGs, RGs for life not why I'm commenting.
There is another anime series that Bandai produces kits for that basically does this and probably does it better;
Danball Senki. It has a few games too. Despite being an anime about kids with little combat robots it handles a lot of stuff I didn't expect an anime of this sort to.
Political assassinations and terrorism on a global scale. It also does not just forget about the consequences of the various things happening; the characters are shown on multiple occasions helping the world recover and regain trust in the series' robots.
In the first season you learn that the robots (which are around 5" tall and not autonomous) have live ammunition, capable of doing serious harm, and were at one point banned from sale until the development of a special kind of cardboard that can withstand any shocks (they show a computer in a box made from this cardboard being dropped from an airplane with no parachute and landing unharmed). This cardboard is what the show gets its name from and what makes up the arenas the robots do battle in.
It's currently one of my favorite franchises. It's in the middle of its third tv series. The first two are directly related, the third is a 'some time in the future' thing.
...oh right, kits. The kits are pretty sweet too. More accurate without paint than the average gunpla, and while they use stickers the stickers are a really nice quality. More recently they've introduced a more accurate to the show higher level of kits with a full inner frame.

Eh, technically Xehn, Build Fighters is based on "Gunpla Builders Beginning G" OVA which came out in 2010. Danball Senki came out in 2011, so it would be the other way around, lol

Well it's not like I claimed Danball did it first, lol. I'm just stating that they have another anime that's basically the same thing that I suspect/predict might be better than this will be.
Admittedly I never checked out Beginning G so maybe I'm wrong? Who knows.
Still think if this gundam anime idea interests you, you should check out Danball Senki, because it is awesome.

Well, Danball Senki is much better than Gunpla Builders Beginning G. However, the anime got dry during the second season. The third season, Danball Senki Wars, is actually fun to watch. I can upload a picture of my custom Danball Senki kit or any of the normal ones to see if they'll appeal to you.

To get slightly more on topic, the concept behind this anime interests me just enough to see what kind of crazy designs happen. I'm not really a Gundam person (beyond G and X) but the earlier OVA thing did cause some interesting design, even if most of them didn't get kits.

I think these series is great inspiration for getting viewers to personally customize their own kits, much like the old zoids sloga, "Build them. Customize. Mobilize" ^_^
