For starters I just purchased both Van's Blade Liger AB & Raven's Genosaurer from HLJ.com (Hobby Link Japan). I paid 17,430 yen which equated to 180.xx which isn't bad since I spent 25 on expedited shipping. I did have a couple questions pertaining to the customization of the Zoids, mainly dealing with painting and detailing my Zoids. I have found a lot of information through forums and videos on you-tube but one question that hasn't been fully touched on is;
Is it possible to build a HMM Zoid, than on a later date dissemble it and repaint it?
The reason I am asking is because I haven't built a Zoid kit in 10 years and have never built anything as detailed as the HMMikits. I have a good amount of experience when it comes to painting Zoids, but my main concern is having a hard time trying to paint while I build my very first HMM Zoid. All tips and advice will be greatly appreciated.
P.S. I plan on pannel lining most of the Zoid as well

They can be rebuilt; it's just a pain in the butt. If you've built one then you know that Kotobukiya has a nasty habit of making what could have been cast as a single piece out or 4 or 5 smaller bits. Really, the best way to build an HMM for future disassembly is to glue on all of those little bits as you go, then you are dealing with a kit of 100 parts instead of 400 parts. You really have to watch your pegs and holes, too... most Koto parts have tiny holes and they don't appreciate paint or modification.

Thanks for the advice, I think I'm just going to stick to panel lining my first model and just focus on minor painting such as the claws and teeth, which I've heard come in a banana yellow instead of gold. I'll make sure to glue most of the tiny pieces together so that if I do decide to repaint in the future I can do it in sections rather than doing each and every little part. My goal is to have mine look something like this by the end of the build. The little detailing work makes such a big difference on the overall look of the Zoid.

I haven't built a full size model yet but my d-style death saurer was a nightmare to pull the leg apart after I had assembled it. I think your idea of panel lining with light painting should be much more enjoyable.

Would unpainted plastic parts require a clear gloss coat before panel lining? The reason I am asking is because I plan on using an enamel wash to create the panel lines but most tutorials online say to clear coat the parts than panel line than clear coat again. I'm not sure if that is only for painted plastic or just a necessary step before the wash.

I wash unpainted parts straight, then clear coat to seal.
If I have a painted model, I clear coat(in different paint type), then wash. I don't always clear coat it a second time and my models have been fine .

@ wolves - thanks for your help, makes it a lot easier to not have to clear coat all my pieces twice. I finally got my kits in yesterday and began to start working on the Blade Liger around 10pm. I only made it to step 4 by 2AM, mainly due to the fact that I just could not stop panel lining. I figured I'd post a couple pictures of what I have so far to get some feedback on my work. Preview on the box art.... <table style="width:auto;"><tr><td><a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/hdhtYpYGHBbZAvzyWJCGdNMTjNZETYmyPJy0liipFm0?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-xM_Dop8AN2w/UT9Gta_ThzI/AAAAAAAAELA/QNv-iOFkNDk/s144/2013-03-11_19-31-35_716.jpg" height="81" width="144" /></a></td></tr><tr><td style="font-family:arial,sans-serif; font-size:11px; text-align:right">From <a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/100480106624597467870/HMMBladeLigerABBangVersion?authuser=0&feat=embedwebsite">HMM Blade Liger AB Bang Version</a></td></tr></table>[/img] All the sprues in alphabetical order -- there are so many parts with so many little details <table style="width:auto;"><tr><td><a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/HYcGmodA6685hdjovT_49NMTjNZETYmyPJy0liipFm0?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-wAoPSanKAwY/UT9GuAS20eI/AAAAAAAAEM8/8cy63Yh0omY/s144/2013-03-11_22-41-22_560.jpg" height="81" width="144" /></a></td></tr><tr><td style="font-family:arial,sans-serif; font-size:11px; text-align:right">From <a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/100480106624597467870/HMMBladeLigerABBangVersion?authuser=0&feat=embedwebsite">HMM Blade Liger AB Bang Version</a></td></tr></table>[/img] This is what I have so far, I really wish I had gotten gold paint for the teeth but O well <table style="width:auto;"><tr><td><a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/c7GYIOgqVaD31KjxTEN69NMTjNZETYmyPJy0liipFm0?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-ZztMKuFQ9NA/UT9GvKx9z4I/AAAAAAAAEMo/y4CNmu1YirQ/s144/2013-03-12_00-14-50_171.jpg" height="81" width="144" /></a></td></tr><tr><td style="font-family:arial,sans-serif; font-size:11px; text-align:right">From <a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/100480106624597467870/HMMBladeLigerABBangVersion?authuser=0&feat=embedwebsite">HMM Blade Liger AB Bang Version</a></td></tr></table>[/img] Painted the actual controls in the cockpit, FYI the colored ink is actually just a pen that uses glitter ink <table style="width:auto;"><tr><td><a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/mGTBq4stnm6ggjihs7GnHdMTjNZETYmyPJy0liipFm0?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-apP0fwKLeoA/UT9GuP1Mq0I/AAAAAAAAELY/BhjhoeqzI4I/s144/2013-03-12_00-10-16_651.jpg" height="81" width="144" /></a></td></tr><tr><td style="font-family:arial,sans-serif; font-size:11px; text-align:right">From <a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/100480106624597467870/HMMBladeLigerABBangVersion?authuser=0&feat=embedwebsite">HMM Blade Liger AB Bang Version</a></td></tr></table>[/img] Zeke and Shadow...this was my main reason for ordering these kits, I have wanted the organioid figures forever <table style="width:auto;"><tr><td><a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/ebICZhG1MY_sWV1q2ph8x9MTjNZETYmyPJy0liipFm0?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-Z8fCcs9k2FI/UT9Gv5jXkuI/AAAAAAAAEMU/92b-UaU8at0/s144/2013-03-12_01-07-31_57.jpg" height="81" width="144" /></a></td></tr><tr><td style="font-family:arial,sans-serif; font-size:11px; text-align:right">From <a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/100480106624597467870/HMMBladeLigerABBangVersion?authuser=0&feat=embedwebsite">HMM Blade Liger AB Bang Version</a></td></tr></table>[/img] Still haven't figured out if I am going to do a build thread but if I do I will post a link here...once again thank you guys for your insight I couldn't get my pictures to upload correctly, atleast on my pc so here is a link to my album... picasaweb.google.com/100480106624597467870/HMMBladeLigerABBangVersion?authuser=0&feat=directlink

I have a micheals near by but also have a big hobby store about 40ins away so I am just waiting till I can make the trip. As of now I have already panel lined nearly 90% of the blade liger and am hoping I can get some more done tonight...keep checking my piasca album for updates.

Thanks for the compliments on the build, there is still a lot of minor detail that still needs to be done, such as gold foiling the claws and blades and repainting the guns on the underbelly with a better silver (the one I had was terribly thick and left a ton of visible brush strokes).
@ Hellbound Crow - Yeah I cannot wait to start the Genosaurer, the picture possibilities are endless. Especially since I have all the characters and organoids!!!
On another note I am slightly disappointed that the Genosuarer did not come with a zoids core with shadow molded into like the blade liger did with zeke. O well
