This board is really dead. So lets generate some discussion by talking about zoids models! I don't really own anything special, but hey, its fun to look at pictures of zoids and talk about them. At least to me, I love going through all the review threads here just to see all the pictures of the zoids I don't have. Now Strike Zilla (Arosaurer, my particular copy is the Zoids2 release under the name Strike Zilla) is a zoid I never was really impressed by until I actually saw it in person. I found one for a decent price and decided to go for it a couple months back. I like his size, he's got a decent height to him and looks like he can hold his own in a fight. (Except in Zoids Fuzors, apparently....-_-) I like Strike Zilla now that I've seen him close up and own him. He's a kind of under-the-radar zoid.

I wish they'd given Arosaurer the Dosgodos treatment. Always was a vicious neat little proportioned body, just a goofy upright posture keeping it from greatness.. Sometimes people straighten it out, but without lifting the neck up it's not quite right. It really should've featured more heavily in the anime too, with its wrist-mounted flamethrowers!!!

Unfortunately, flamethrowers don't play into the anime's storyline well.
Not a bad start, timeoftheoath.

well, impact cannons sure showed up a lot in the storyline, so... I guess flamethrowers would be hard to do in CG though..

I think it has more to do with Flamethrowers being horrible, horrible weapons. If they showed it CG, we'd have to watch pilots roast alive in the cockpits of there Zoids. Pretty horrifying actually.

Yeah, and Ciao's was a police Zoid. Not a good match! Though I could see them also being like cutting torches on Zoid armor, which would be cool to animate. Still, fire + city = bad idea. (And she did get to be cool in the PKB/Zoid rustlers episode.)
Strike Zilla is really pretty nice looking and underrated. I have one with a broken gun I should fix up someday!

Hm. Now I wonder why more zoids don't have Flamethrowers and cutting torches..It seems like it would be awesome.
Hah..I couldn't help but to cut the cockpit out..I mean its only some glass, most cockpits being just that.

Thanks everyone for the feedback! Today I'm going to review another zoid that is a really great kit to build, looks fearsome, yet does next to nothing in any of the anime except get taken down by fearless heroes. Of course, I'm talking about the Dark Horn. Dark Horn's color scheme is just great. Although he and Red Horn are identical, I always felt that Dark Horn was much more intimidating-perhaps due to the color scheme making him appear more evil. As a zoid, he's well armed and armored, which makes it puzzling as to why he's so easy to take down. Probably due to incompetent pilots. He comes with three pilots, one in the head, a gunner, and then a tail gunner as well. The walking motion is a favorite of mine as well, the missile launcher(well, it may not be a missile launcher. I'm just guessing, I should check up on that) spins 360 degrees as he lumbers forward. As you can see, no real difference from the red horn. Though in a fight, I'd have my money on the Dark Horn, personally.

I always did like hasbro dark horn.. silver guns are better than green.. though the bluish caps are a throw-off visually

A Dark Horn isn't a Dark Horn without a gatling cannon. But just seeing this puts me in the mood to build my HMM.
Red Horn is one of my favourite designs, and I like all the variants. Such a shame they never put boosters on the Greeny. Crimson Horn is a great design, I like the symmetrical side cannon things, shame about the colour. Following the Iron-Kong-PK-is-alizarin-not-pink debate, I defy anyone to name that colour. It sure as heck isn't crimson.
Thanks to timeoftheoath for trying to kick-start the reviews again. The one thing I'd suggest is to post each review in a new thread, with the Zoid in the title.

IMO, Darky and Bone Horn are the two best variants. Aside from the "dreadlocks", I really dig the Crimson Horn design too. Since you defied me to, zed...CH can best be described as...fuschia Call me crazy, but I kinda like it.

Thanks to timeoftheoath for trying to kick-start the reviews again. The one thing I'd suggest is to post each review in a new thread, with the Zoid in the title. Ta ra - zed I thought about that, but then I thought it might be better to just have one thread of my own that I can update periodically, partly because I really enjoyed reading the Random Review Sunday thread and wanted to model a new, recent one that was similar to it, and also because I felt individual reviews would get at most three or four replies and then be done. I think a large thread that can generate a lot of discussion with periodic updates is better, but if a mod wants to split them up that is certainly fine. On to a new, more interesting review! And one of my personal favorites, if not my absolute favorite, It's a very close call. This is a fairly recent addition to my collection, and one i've been on the lookout for a long time. The price was never right, but then, thanks to eBay, I was able to snag one MIB! Anybody who's been following my posts can probably take a guess as to what it is----Mammoth! Mammoth is awesome. The build was extremely enjoyable, and the only spot of trouble I ran into was connecting the head to the main body. Getting the tusks on required a bit of force as well, but nothing else presented a real challenging. The build was time consuming though, taking me about an hour to construct and then add stickers. Yes, that's Guarantuala and Elephantus in the background. Moving on.... I like Elephant type Zoids, and Mammoth is by far and away the best of them. His late successor, Elephander, while still a very cool model, is far and away an underwhelming Zoid. The Elephander is cool in the anime, and manages to appear as a powerful zoid, but as a model, he is pathetically undersized. The mammoth is larger, and while it lacks all the gizmos Elephander can boast, he makes up for it in sheer old school power. Crusher tusks, and a boatload of cannons all over. Overall, the Mammoth is an excellent zoid. Personally, I wish he was a bit better represented in the game and anime universe, but nonetheless, his presence is still impressive and is important to any collection, especially for people who like to collect old school zoids. I highly recommend Mammoth to any fan of zoids.

Nice to see the reviews back up and running, and with some really decent photography too. Love the Strike Zilla (wish I had more of them), but the OJR Dark Horn is by far my favorite over all of the re-releases of that Zoid. Mammoth, now, would be great to see as a re-release or even a re-imagining. I kind of like the idea of the old, simple kits that could have a few extra pieces attached to change them from a Bigasauru to a Mammoth to a Gordos. It would be nice to see some kind of kit released that had all the parts to swap between three or four completely different builds.
