Letting everyone know I'm okay. I felt the quake while cleaning in one of the emergency diesel generator spaces on the carrier.

Been looking at some of the videos on news sites, this is pretty much the worse quake/ tsunami l've ever seen. Really feel for anyone affected by this

I have to admit, I never could really visualize this kind of destruction until now. What has happened to Japan is truly horrifying.

The reality of the damage doesn't quite hit me... it's just hard to imagine the scope of this one event and how many lives it has shattered. My fear, now, is for my home state. Japan is decades ahead of Washington when it comes to earthquate/tsunami readiness... I could see a huge portion of Seattle and other cities simply sluffed off into Puget Sound and washed away.
Prayers for Japan, and that other place pull their head out of the sand.

I know how you feel Maeth! My old High School is build directly on top of an old fault line. While we get quakes every once in a while, they are never very serious, however the line is directly linked to the fault near Memphis. It's exactly the fault that set off that huge quake some 200-300 years ago that caused the Mississippi to run backwards and rang all the church bells along the East Coast. And not even fifteen miles is a Nuclear Plant. And they have been saying the fault that runs through Memphis is due to go off any time causing a major quake, and if that one goes off, it's a sure thing the one running through the High School will go off.
While none of the quakes have been serious, we have been getting frequent non-serious quakes, the latest big one being around a 4.6?and causing the High School's cafeteria floor to cave in and broke several of my older Zoids models a few years back.
But the disaster in Japan has really hit me hard, since most of my life has been influenced by the Japanese culture. In fact, all of what I watched on TV were Japanese anime and most of what I read was manga and graphic novels. And then there's the obvious model kits, Zoids and Gundams, the video games I played like Pokemon, and even the trading cards I collected, like Yugioh and Pokemon. But the Japanese are really intelligent, level-headed people unlike us, and I am confident they will rebuild much quicker than we could.
