Sam came home this evening with a large suspicious box from the post office. Poor guy, he's always the one who has to drag home my hoards of boxes. I poked it open and found this inside: HmmMM! I neglected making dinner and popped the big one open: Squee! Deathsaurer bits! I snapped a few pics of the sprue bits since I find them pretty: In this one you can see the air bubbles that accumulate in the thicker areas, which you normally wouldn't see: The deathsaurer Crystal plastic is actually a little bit milky and somewhat softer compared to normal hard clear stuff. The canopy is still the hard type, so you can see the difference of the material here: I'm using an exacto heated up under a flame to assist in preventing little cracks & bendy sprue fissues in the pieces. The plastic isn't as bad about cracking as I've heard, but still.. I want to be careful. So far I've got the torso, one leg and the head. I'm replacing the red caps with my NJR Deathy's grey caps, since I think the swap aesthetically benefits them both. Here there are, teamed up to destroy some civilzations: More to come later . I dragged out my black light & colour tubes to try some fun stuff tomorrow.

Suh-weeeet. Maybe they made him milky instead of straight clear because of all the wires that would be going down its neck for the light-up eyes. I'm actually a bit surprised that its eye isn't red like the regular one.

The led lights up red, no worries. I just have a pile of AAA's and no C's or whatever crazy size the fellow consumes.
As for the plastic, I think the milkyness might be a result of the softer plastic material. The brushed marking on the inside of each piece (which normally would not be visable) seem to be causing most of the visable smoki-ness. You can see a fair amount of the marks on the body casing shot.

Ahhhhh, where did you get the deathsaurer from??? I've been trying to get one. I just got the Red Horn last week and been looking for a Deathsaurer..... Nice catch there...the other box is the Red Horn right?

I'm not sure if I want the Deathy...I hear so many stories about them being break-happy post-build, even if it's all pretty and cleeaaar.
The Horn, on the other hand, is awesome, and fully responsible for my Horn variant addiction. Set it freeee!

Got it through a friend . I've found the clear plastic quite resistant to breaking, and quite a bit more friendly than some regular Zoids, actually. The material seems quite intentionally made to help resist cracks and fissures - Here's a shot of me bending a full length of sprue: I got another one past 180 degrees, but it developed some whitening. I'm gonna shift this over to the reviews area since I seem to be turning it into one.

On my side, my Cristal Saurer had some parts broken during the moving. The plastic is not as hard than the regular one, but it is more fragile.

Yup, Mr Fancypants Deathy has helped me fight off the virus, if only because it ran for its life while I madly ripped open the box like a neanderthal. Mr Sam is down with a similar thing right now though, so I was busy keeping him all patched up today.
*Disclaimer: viruses aren't actually alive :3
I'm just about done Deathy now, and going to move on to the Red Horn after. I don't quite have the balls (figuratively and literally) to do a rit-dye on them.. but I'm thinking I might try and spray white chrome on the inside of the horn pieces and see how that looks. If it looks nice I might try it deathy too.
It's kind of hard to figure out what it would look like with the refraction, brushed texture in places and all that.

If you have a gas stove, don't dye, cause it's nigh unto impossible to regulate the water temp. I ruined some genobreaker armor cause the water got too hot and the pieces went all warpy. I did the horn at my old place, on an electric stove.

Hmm.. okies, I'll keep that in mind, thanks (if I work up the courage to dip 'em). Tonight I did a bit of photography with Mr Deathy and my 'ol black light. Bit busy with stuff so I can't go into detail at the moment, sorry: ..and my favourite:
