My intention here is to have a single location for all larger sized Zoids, so if you've got 50 bucks plus shipping burning a hole in your pants/ purse, then this is the place to get the information you require. Since there aren't that many really large "Texas Sized Zoids," when I do them all, I'll probably do some Blox fuzors, or other combinations of Zoids, just to keep the thread interesting. Since I'm former Army I'll also give a tactical description of how I would deploy this Zoid. So without further adoo, lets start the first one with the:
ULTRASAURUS
The Ultrasaurus is probably the king of Republic "Texas-Sized Zoids, it is a classic Zoids design that has been re-released, both in NAR, and NJR. Mine is a NJR release.
Here are the parts from within' the box:
While the engine runs, I noticed that it runs at an extremely slower speed than a normal medium sized Zoid. Once built this made the Ultra lumber along at a very slow rate of speed. Wile walking you can hear the plastic "creaking" from the weight of the actual Zoid. Also the head, neck, and the four cannons on the side move up and down. The two on the left side of the pair (referring to the pair of cannons on each side) move in tandem, as do the right. The head also lights up with a red led.
The Ultra has 8 pilots total. One in the head, one in the tail, one on the back, and One in the neck. But wait that's only four! Hold yer horses, there are more. One is located in the outside two of the four cannons on the side. The other two are in hovercraft one built into the back, and the other into the chest. The cockpit as shown in the second picture can double as a third hovercraft.
Lastly what is the Ultra's tactical significance? I would deploy the Ultra near the rear of my Army. The four cannons on the side would be great for long range cannoning, kind of like a battleship. There are short range missiles in the chest, long range missiles on the tail, and multiple short range cannons throughout the body of the Zoid. Therefor between the support hovercraft, and the missiles, and cannons, it has enough firepower to protect itself both long, and short range.
I'd probably leave some smaller support Zoids near it to protect such a massive asset, but the Ultra is literally a one Zoid Army!
I hope this helps somewhat to whether you should or shouldn't purchase an Ultrasaurus. Next one will be Ultimate Seismosaurus. Happy Zoiding! ;D
