RZ-070 Gairyuki
Kit Overview:
Right away, you will notice that Gairyuki is far more than just a Berserk Fuhrer re-tool. Between the all new armor, the new head, removable Blox drones and it's vastly different colour, Gairyuki stands alone, rather than next to Berserk Fuhrer.
The box contains fourteen sprues, two body halfs, neck halfs, head halfs, the motor, battery backpack, a tail connector, two Core Blox a pilot, stand with custom adapter for Gairyuki and a compliment of caps and barrings. And on tops of all that, a sticker sheet and full colour instruction manual.
Assembly:
Assembly of Gairyuki took upwards of 4 hours, plus an extra half-hour for decalling. There are no points of true frustration while building this kit. But there is a lot of smaller pieces to assemble in a precise order. But they are no real problem for anyone who has built a Berserk Fuhrer and/or Sturm Tyrann prior to Gairyuki.
Once fully built, Gairyuki backpack mounted fins put him a little taller than a Geno Breaker, but his overall body size is the same as Berserk Fuhrer's.
Design:
Unique. That is the word to best describe Gairyuki. And that's a good thing. With his blue armor, translucent orange panels and white head crest, Gairyuki stands out in a crowded world of T-Rex type Zoids. And it's the armor that really makes Gairyuki stand out.
Formed from parts off of Gairyuki's back, feet, tail and backpack, Hien is a swallow bird-type of Blox Zoid. It has an impressive wing span and a truely aerodynamic design. And formed from parts off his forearms, hips and backpack, Gekkou is a horseshoe carb-type Blox Zoid that is supposedly a mobile shield to protect Gairyuki in battle.
Just like Berserk Fuhrer, Gairyuki has a two-way switch on his backpack. Move it to 1 and he stomps forward at a reasonable pace for a bi-pedal kit. Move the switch to 2 and he remains in place, lowering his head to open the bottom jaw and extend the cannon in his mouth as his tail striaghtens out and the armor on it raises up.
Conclusion:
The Good:
Very unique design, great integrated Blox companions. Plus a relative of the Berserk Fuhrer, and that can only be a good thing. Plus an optional Gairyuki Shin version available with a third Blox unit.
The Bad:
Nothing really to report.
Bottomline:
Very highly recommended.
BZ-018 Dispelow
Kit Overview:
One of the multi-mode Blox that Tomy produced towards the end of the NJR line of Zoids. Dispelow is comprised of six sprues of parts, two Blox, a Mega-Blox (to use Phenotype's term), a stomach panel as well as four hip joints like those on Lord Gale.
Assembly:
Building Dispelow took about an hour all together (including switching it from mode-to-mode to see the various forms). Like with all Blox, posing can prove interesting. But since he stands on four legs, balance is not a problem.
Once all together, Dispelow stands a little shorter than a Shadow Fox, but wider than it.
Design:
A Blox bull Zoid that has three modes. It's a nice kit to have around. In it's American Bull mode, it has a mix of melee and ranged weapons. Spanish Bull is entirely made for melee, and Assault Mode is made entired for ranged attack. Because it's a Blox, Dispelow has to be disassembled down to it's basic chasis and re-built into each different mode.
See below for comments on Gairyuki Destroyer.
Conclusion:
The Good:
A very original deisgn with enough modes to prevent him from getting boring. The colours let it match the trio.
The Bad:
The usual Blox posibility struggles.
Bottomline:
Recommended, especially if you have Gairyuki.
BZ-019 Evo Flyer
Kit Overview:
A Mirco-Raptor type that could very well be an evolution of the Unenlagia platform. It even shares a sprue for the arms and legs with Unenlagia. It has only 2 Blox, as the cockpit piece acts as 2 more Blox. It's choice of either ground or air combat is a rather enjoyable design feature as well.
Assembly:
Assembly was more or less an hour with time to get used to each mode and converting between the two.
It's back-mounted guns in ground mode put it about the same height as a Command Wolf. In flgiht mode he just hugs the ground, and is no taller than a Molga.
Posing Evo Flyer can be tricky. Most bi-pedal Blox Zoid suffer from a case of leaning either forward or back, eventually tipping if not balanced properly in the first place.
Design:
A flying raptor design is a nice touch, and thankfully he's not short on fire-power with those large guns. The addition of the feathers also allows Evo Flyer to actually look as plausible as a flying raptor machine could get.
See below for comments on Gairyuki Speed.
Conclusion:
The Good:
Nicely designed with two vastly different modes. Great colours that match it to the trio.
The Bad:
Tipping over issue if it's not posed properly.
Bottomline:
Recommend for Gairyuki and/or raptor fans.

Overall, I'm extremely happy to have all three of these great Zoids. Thanks to Tisinc for cutting me a deal on Gairyuki, Toy-Man for Evo Flyer, and of course, this forum's own Abaddon for trading me Dispelow.
