TDP Great Sabre Reissue

He's a reissue of a remake of a classic design in arguably one of the best colour schemes to grace the Zoids line. In short, very nice.
I'll assume you've all built a Sabre Tiger at least once before so I won't go into detail about how he works, but he's a cool design that is improved even further by the inclusion of the flight pack. I was pleased to find that the flight pack sprue is molded in a very nice shade of silver identical to that on the OJR as opposed to the awful mottled light grey of the CP.
I was also happy to discover that he's quite a faithful match for the OJR, far more so than the Shield Liger MKII was. However...

Although he's of good quality for the most part, the head/body mold is definitely showing signs of wear (the parts are covered in odd splodges and scratches around areas of detail). Add to this the problem of the clipped teeth; not only were Tomy happy to blunt his sabres and clip his top fangs, they even snipped his bottom chompers for a full dental makeover. Bah.

Poor teeth...

I do like the look of him though. Pity the only LTDs around where I pick my zoids up from are Blade Liger BI and Whitz Imitate

And I like Sabres. My third zoid I think, or my forth... My Zabre Fang sits with my only CP 04, and it looks pretty cool

But yeah, sucks about the teeth

Nice looking Sabre, but that definately sucks majorly about the fangs. Even my Holotech Zaber's fangs are still pointy, yet this reborn masterpiece, the ultimate Saber of all SAbers, gets the clippers? That HAS to be an act of Blashemy.

I don't know, though I reckon using the original sprues will be a good place to start. I'm sure someone will come up with a viable solution.

oh also because all the pictures of it are weird.. what color are the eyes actually? and are they trasparent/clear or solid plastic? I've seen some pics with red eyes, and some like yours Andy that are this weird milky, light lavendarish thing.

It would be fairly easy to remove the teeth entirely, then use black or silver sprue to make some small cone shapes, which you can stick on with Polystyrene Cement.

But its the principle ...

BTW - thanks for the review Andy. The Red is much pinkier than I expected, but it looks great.

Oh man, I can't wait to get my GS! It has always been the best of the sabre variants IMO. Now if only Tomy made a combo gattling and Missile launcher CP (aka Schubaltz special) to fit it.

It's easy to re-pointy blunted teeth (xacto and a bit of patience), it's a lot harder to re-pointy clipped ones.

I still might try it, though. Gah.

I ran out of these in HLJ, well at least I still have a source, hopefully I can have one too. Saber Tigers are my next on the list on my collection.

I want all of them with CP-02's

For now I only have the NJR Saber Tiger with CP-02, still waiting for the time to get a Holo Zaber Fang, and also the time to get the HAsbro Zaber Fang from a friend, since I still have 2 Cp-02's coming, both of them will probably have it, and if I get the Great Sabre then all for Saber Tigers would have CP-02, looks good even if I imagine it.

I haven't gotten a blinding, lemony fresh NAR saber but I should... I do however have the NAR holotech one, and he is very sexy. My maroon saber sports the '02 though at the moment while holo kitty looks on mildly jealous, but at the same time standing in that patch of sunlight showing off his cleary-ness while maroony glances at him jealously.

what? >_> doesn't everyone's zoids have personalities?

anyway, enough rambling. If you don't want clipped teeth on your holo kitty Kamadoma, go for a NAR one as the Japanese LTD had clipped teeth. And are you just waiting or haven't found one? Because with a little poking you can find plenty of them in ebay stores...

We have hasbro Holo kitties here. I don't know the boxes said Tomy, but my fellow zoiders told me that tomy released them here but hasbro did the packaging, very similar to our Z-builders that have TOmy logo.

Oughta get a holo kitty next week. And maybe get the yellow zaber fang from my friend when we meet at the PI contest awarding, along with my Murasame liger.

if you've got the latter box chances ar eit won't be clipped as it was in hasbro's factories and warehouse and tomy just bought them and redistributed them if you've got them over there. as far as i've heard though that never happened with the older stuff, just newer releases like seismo, leogater, storm bros etc
