Okay, the little guy arrived today and even managed to dodge the evil Customs. So heres a review for y'all:
Ze Good
He's a reissue of a remake of a classic design. Can't go wrong there. The colours are superb; pure white, deep blue (almost identical to that used on the NJR Pteras and Shield Liger), black and gold. Some people have commented that the blue tail looks a bit odd but it's actually pretty nice up close and the gold parts are of a much better quality plastic than I was expecting.
Ze Bad
He's passable as an OJR at a distance, but just like with the TDP Iron Kong, being cast from the same mould as the regular NJR version there are plenty of differences carried over that can help tell the original and the rerelease apart:
-The battery compartment is the screw-up rather than clip-together design and has the new Tomy logo
-the cockpit canopy, while still brown, is mach darker and thicker. I swapped the one on mine for a spare OJR one and it looks *much* better.
-As mentioned on Zoids Corner, the teeth have little nubs molded at the bottom
-Almost the entire 'A' sprue has been reworked and each piece is slightly different to the original, either having less or more detail
-The blue tubing behind the head has far more grooves than the OJR
-There is a now a little bump next to 'on' on the motor casing
That's about it. So don't get this in the hope that it will be identical to the OJR in every aspect as you'll be disappointed.
Oh, and bizarrely, the stickers are about 1.5 times bigger than they should be which means they don't fit very well unless you trim them down.
Ze Ugly
Nothing really, he's a nice little guy.
Conclusion = highly recommended
Sorry about the lousy quality of these pics, i'll try and take some nicer ones when the sun comes out of hiding.
Standard mode
Guns deployed
Next to OJR Gunbluster who shares the same colour scheme (except with chrome gold parts)
